'92 Porsche featured in The Informant with Matt Damon

Hey guys, I posted this detail about a year and a half ago when I did it, but it looks like the thread is gone. Anyway, I was called to detail this 1992 Porsche Carerra4 prior to it being shipped to Decatur, IL for the movie filming of The Informant starring Matt Damon. The movie came out today so I thought I'd post this up again for those that see the movie.

Anyway, the owner drives this car every day, even during winter so it's definitely not your typical garage queen Porsche. I've lost my notes on this car, but I know I washed, clayed, polished 2x (SIP then OP maybe?), and waxed with Souveran. Interior got the full treatment as well, with OPP being the vinyl/leather treatment. Here are some pics from the detail, a short video clip, and the movie trailer where you can see the car for a whole 1 second. :2thumbs:

AFTER

The paint had a lot of pitting in it, but I was able to remove all the swirls and other defects.

Here is the owner's testimonial that he sent me to use on our website:

My car was selected to be the "hero car" in the movie "The Informant" starring Matt Damon. The movie company offered to have my car fully detailed prior to using it in the filming. I contacted Mike through a referral at a local club event. Mike met me to assess the car and provided me with a thorough estimate. The detailing was done at my home, taking a full day. I thought my car looked good before, but after the job was done, the car was just outstanding. The Guards Red color really popped out like never before, and the interior was great. It may sound strange, but the car did not look like a typical "detail" job. There was no shiny, sticky residue on the rubber, leather, tires, etc. The car just looked perfectly clean and fresh. The movie studio was very pleased with the car's condition. The detailing provided by the studio on returning the car after filming was far below the quality of Mike's work.

very nicely done, i was actually thinking today "why arent any of us detailers hired to detail movie or tv show cars" and here you go lol

Nice job, good to see at least one person cared about how a car looks on film. I cringe every time I see the opening credits in Entourage because that black Lincoln is so swirled up.

Very nice man! I just got back from seeing this movie a few hours ago and I loved seeing this Pcar in the movie. Great work.

HAHA me too! Such a cool looking car but it could be so much better. At least I know I'm not the only one now.

^ lol i look away when i see it. the other day i saw a green truck on a tv show covered in swirls and holograms :/

Nice Job!!

It just goes to show how far quality work can go. From the corn fields, to Hollywood, then to the world. :)

Thanks Dave. Means a lot coming from people like you that do some amazing work.

If you care about what I have to say than hear this... the informant was a disappointing movie! It was too witty for its own good, acting was very good the plot was just too silly for my taste

Doesnt take away from the detail here, when I saw the car in the movie I was like " I know who detailed that! " :chuckle:

Cool story and nice detail, you didn't happen to do the BMW 8 Series that is also in the movie I believe?
