'92 Civic brought back from the dead

Hawaiianelement

I love silicone !!
a co-worker called me and asked if I could get out w/spots on a car he's thinking about buying. Of course I said yes and that he should try and get the price down because of it.

Anyway the paint was trashed , concrete spills , waterspots , paint chips , yellow headlights.

awesome work on that civic. its back from the dead, you got that right. how long did it take you to detail it? what were your steps if you dont mind me asking?

Great job Jon,
I'm sure that your co-worker was very pleased with the out come.
BTW were they able to talk the seller down due to the condition of the paint?

Thanks alot guys. It was a complete exterior detail with waterspots $75
then also paint sealant plus $40. $115 was the total . 3 hrs worth of work .

It was in my old neighborhoos where I grew up so it was nice even thoughits on the other side of the Island. Kailua .

i used heavy duty acid gel on the paint and windows . It was parked next to a sprinkler head. Clay bar with the Meg's GC soap. Then buffed out the swirls with PB's SSR 2.5 on my PC.

The finish came out real nice after 2.5 . No hazing . Followed up with PB's EX .

The trim got PB's pro polish. Also the door handles and posts..The tires got costco's no-touch tire care applied with yellow app.

What is the name of the product that you used on the water spots? Did you have to use it AND clay?

Great Job on the Civic. it is always nice to see a car that is brought back from the dead. One more shiney car on the road.

Really nice job on the resurection. What is the acid wash you spoke of on using on the paint? I am curious to know how well the swril remover worked on the headlights? b/c i am trying to restore a set that i got used to do some custom work to.

You have to be very careful while using HF acid. Its very unhealthy for you . There's a thread about the health risks going on now.

Hydroflouric ( sp ) acid . I get it at my local detail shop. The one that sells to car lots and bulk products. I don't by my waxes or compounds from them just the cheap generic stuff by the gallon.

This acid is similiar to wheel acid . I believe they're the same type of acid. The one for paint and glass has the consistency of hair gel. Basically a wipe on wipe off procedure . Be careful of your dwell times . best to do one panel at a time.

Warning, it can stain plastic cladding , moldings and fake chrome trim. So wash the area after use . I then used Pb's SSR 2.5 and it came out great .

Thanks. I've never seen a gel acid for paint/glass, but it doesn't look like it's for me. I stay away from Hf these days.

Nice work on the water spots. Am dealing with the same situation as yours as far as water spots are concerned. I am still learning. Hopefully I will be able to use your process for the water spot problem. Can only hope to get the results of such an accomplished detailer such as your self.
