91 hr extreme detail by Immaculate Reflections - extremely pic heavy 280+ beware

Thank you everyone for the kind words :) My apologies for being so late to reply! I've been absolutely swamped lately and pulling some pretty long hours.

wow... looking good Jeff. Never imagined some of those scratches could even be removed!!!

That's over half a month worth of labor!

Yeah definitely the longest job I've done! Thanks!

Jeff, a very nice maximum effort there. I love details like this. I'm glad too see you have the chance to endure such a process. Great Job man!!!

Barry, thank you very much. There were times I wanted to just call it quits, but i'm glad i stuck with it! Now I want to do another crazy one like this!

Jeff, Just WOW! IMO this is the restoration of the year.

Have you considered picking up an air sander?

Thank you!! I think that honor should go to Barry for that 86 Mercedes, but I greatly appreciate the compliment! I really want to get an air sander now, it would have saved so many hours!

I don't know why anyone would spend that much time on a worthless GM product, but you did an awesome job anyway.lol

Seriously though, that is some amazing work.

:LOLOL Thanks!

Amazing work Jeff! That was a restoration, not a detail IMO. :2thumbs:

Thanks Rasky! :woohoo:

:wow:, that is just a crazy turn around, fantastic job!!!!

I really hope that is an LS1 car? I would hope that kind of restoration wouldn't be done to a V6

Do you have any pictures of the engine bay, kinda my thing....:LOLOL

Thanks! Yeah its an LS1. The engine bay had been sprayed flat black and since putting the new motor in, a lot of little things still had to be done, so we didn't touch the motor on this one.

Thanks!!

can you say detail of the year ????

geez ***, the car looks absolutely stunning !!!!!

i can only imagine what you charged.... but i bet it beats having a new interior installed and a new paint job !!!

THIS is what detailing is all about! Superb job, that finish was hacked beyond anything!

:woot: Thanks Dave! I appreciate that! You know that awesome feeling when you're done and you look at what you accomplished? Well with this one I felt like I was on a beach in the Bahamas with a drink just looking at it. Dunno if that makes sense, but it felt good. Thanks Dave!

Its nice to know there are people out there bringing great cars back to life from being mistreated. I dont even consider this legitimatley detailing, this was actually a restoration. Excellent work!

Thanks! I didn't want to get cocky and say it was a restoration, but after a bunch have said that, I guess it was lol. Thanks.

cajunfirehawk said:
Awesome save on that F-body, not sure if you got paid but if you did it must have been a ton, cause even at $10 an hour thats almost a grand, but god well deserved, awesome job, you have serious Patience to hang in there on that job.

It was well worth the time invested and a good friendship developed with the owner too. Thank you!

Man, talk about bringing it back from death!

LOL thanks!

anyone know where to buy those small detail brushes with the black bristles?

i cant seem to find them

A previous sponsor here sold them. If you google Swissvax and maybe throw in an extra keyword like 'domain' you should be able to find them. If not, PM me.

rrufast said:
Absolutely incredible!

I hope the money was worth it because it shows that you put a LOT of time and effort into bringing that F-Body back to life... Always loved that deep sapphire color...

It's threads like this one that make me want to learn more and more so taht I can 1) make my own vehicles sparkle and shine.. and 2) start a side business for the extra money and the rewards of a job well done!

Definitely worth it. Thanks!

I'm glad its a motivating factor for you! World needs more talented detailers. Way too many hacks out there!

**Frank** said:
I had to take a shower after ready this haha

Seriously, from one F-body owner to another, that was just some amazing work.

My car (00 TA) has a ton of orange peel, but after your wet sanding that paint looks like a mirror. I've been on the fence of trying it. After reading this it is definitely something I'm going to try.

The rear deck before/after pics made my mouth drop wide open.

LOL! Thank you! The car is seriously smoother without the orangepeel too! My car (with lots of zaino) feels almost rough in comparison JUST because it has orangepeel if you compare it directly to this TA, which I did. Yeah that rear deck was a crazy transformation. Thanks!

craigdt said:
Wow.... That looks like a ton of work and a ton of fun.

Great job!

It was tedious at times, but the end result was sooo worth it! Thanks!

Those are both great looking TAs!!! Thank you! Can you PM me the link? I think thats the only LSx site I'm not on lol.

Beautiful work. I gather it was to test your skills and push yourself??

At the average labor rate it would have been cheaper to buy a low mileage 98 Tran Am in excellent condition.

Very nice work all the same! :hifive:

I really wanted to test my abilities yes. But it would cost a lot more to buy a low mileage TA in excellent shape. Low miles + excellent cond go for 10-12k. Btw, what is the 'average' labor rate?

Thank you for the compliments!!

Incredible Job,Detailing at its best! Im doing the same thing with my car I bought, that car never been polished, interior never been cleaned, and half the stuff they did to the car wasnt done right so Im having to go behind them every step of the way to fix in right. Where were those bolts located to remove the wing? I removed the seats, cleaned the carpet, ran wires, and still have loads to do on my car, I have to remove the center console, and rewire the cigarette lighter because the owner thought it be cool to put an aftermarket alarm system and cut every wire and splice into each one and just tape it with electric tape, people are dumb sometimes.

Thanks!

MachNU said:
That is amazing well worth looking at all the pictures. I am also curious as to how much you charged for something like that? Also stupid question but when you wet sanded, did you do 1500, followed by 2000, then 2500 then 3000 THEN started compounding?

Thank you! I did 1500, 2000, then 2500 and started compounding. I think next time I'll do 2000, 2500, 3000 by DA sander and then compound.
