89 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am Indy Pace Car Restorative Correction. BING Style!

A long time of client of mine recently purchased this 1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am Indy Pace Car Edition.

He wanted it prepped for the Cars for the Cure show.

The car is an all original 3700 mile example except the tires.

This car is # 848 of 1550 built and is complete with all documentation from the bill of sale right down to the original dealer temp tag.

Sticker price back in 89 was $34,000 which was higher than the Corvette of the same year.

These cars were shipped to California where PAS fitted them with the 3.8 GN Turbo V6.

They are also equipped with larger Corvette brakes which explains the different offset for the front wheels.

The paint was also out sourced and is a nice solvent based urethane, unfortunately they didn't know how to properly finish down paint as you will see in the before shots.

Ok lets get on with the detail.

When I arrived.

Very nice job on the car...looks brand new. I have to say, though, that it is wierd seeing a 5 band manual equalizer and tape deck...that takes me back in time! lol

Richie Carbone- Great work on a really neat time-capsule car! You sure did a good job of showing the white paint's marring in your pix too, that's not always easy.

How did you handle the door graphics? Polish over them, avoid them

Oh, and props to the tire mounting tech, he didn't bugger up the wheel rims the way so many guys do.

Great work once again Richie! Car looks better than the day it was bought I'm sure!

What a cool car to work on and it really does bring you back in time! LOL @ the E.T. comment! :D

Truly outstanding Richie. I was hoping to get one of these done myself soon, but things didn't work out. Everything from the underside of the hood to the door jams to those (now) beautiful taillights look amazing. Great stats on this beast as well and it looks like she showed well at the meet. Great work!
