#80 thickness

just tried #80 for the 1st time. basically not too impressed with this product but, not too bad either.

the vehicle was fairly protected over the winter but had minor swirls, i couldnt wait to use the #80 i had bought over the hybernation months. turns out it wasnt worth the wait. oh well.

My question: I found it to be very thick, and had to squeeze the bottle real hard for product to come out. It would come out in "dots" on the pad (I couldnt make an "X" pattern). It was a PITA and time consuming, and I'm a fair sized dude.

I used #83 for some more serious scratches and this stuff just shooted right out and was a real nice consistency???

whatya think??

i think something is wrong with your #80 cause it should come out quite easily. the consistency is a little thicker than water and you shouldn't have to squeeze it too hard to get it to come out of the bottle.

maybe the nozzle was clogged?

Having used gallons of #80 over the years, I have never had any that was very thick. I find it to be thinner than all of the other meguiars polishes in the 80's series.

My latest gallon is green and very thin, it is an older gallon that I got a deal on. Works great..............

Hmm, I just bought some #80 about two months ago and mine is extremely thick too. Granted, I got great results but I did find it to be the thickest product I have ever worked with. I got mine directly from Meg's, do you guys think I should call them?

Yeah, #80 is fairly thin compared to other Megs cleaner/polishes. Products such as #83, #82, #9 are all noticably thicker.

Something's definately wrong with your bottle.

Sounds like a stealth VOC reformulation to me.....

I find that thick products sling less-especially if you use a rotary-i bought some Mothers Power Polish and it seems to be pretty thin-i'll have to see how it works

Was thinking that as well -- not out of possibilities -- steg did you buy yours from Meguiars directly?!?

If not it is probaably just extra gluggy from abnormal climate storage --

Sorry to state the obvious but did you shake it well before use?

I havent found it to be that thick. Spraying some QD on the pad might help if you havent tried that already.

Yes, they were all shaking vigorously before using. I just went to my garage to compare #80, #81, #82, and #83 and they are all white in color except for #80 which is green, and #80 is definitely thicker than the rest. Does this sound normal or abnormal?

Abnormal from my experience. I have been using #80 for years and it has always been thin and green. Perhaps I always got old bottles, I purchase them from my local PBE store.

*shrugs* - i spose its got a greenish tint to it. Especially now I've noticed around the spout where the residue has dried. It suppose it always caught me as more white/cream colour.

yeah,, I'm going on to MOL, to ask MR. Phillips about this. My #80 is way too thick.

Especially now hearing that "#83 is thicker than #80".

anyway, my product may have been frozen at some point (shipping etc), as the climate is pretty freakin cold here during winter.
