You should spend some time polishing those exhaust tips as well! That would really set the rear end off.

Irs sucks on 03 cobras. my Z with a tune, lid, cutout and converter went 12.2@110.. i say they cant run decent times because most 03 cobra usuall wheel hop and that = broken haft shafts . anyways how many 03 cobra do you see race from a dead stop... supra ans 03's are on roll patrol.

now if you want to put the new z06 so to challenge.. i would give the 03 cobra a 2 car head start and the bump..

I see plenty of 03 cobra's run from a dig, They do well to. Only a high hp 03/04 cobra with drags will snap half shafts. A pulley, exhaust, intake and tune will take a cobra into the 11's without breaking a sweat. Not sure of the torque and hp it takes to snap em but it's high. Aftermarket half shafts fix the problem though anyhow.m I have like 4 videos on the pc now with cobra's racing from a dig. They do well from both, wheel hop is not a problem for most drivers now.

yea i agree on the IRS. But '03/'04s still do pretty good from a dig, even with stock tires, it just takes a good driver. You have a Z28 or Z06? if its a Z06 did you get a ram air hood? Im assuming Z28 due to the lid. I see plenty of '03/'04s race from a stop. you add drag radials, exhaust, and intake, even on a stock IRS, they can go low 12's high 11's

edit: yea, the new Z is crazy, the cobra would need 2-4 cars at least

the new z06 runs low-mid 11's on street tires, the cobra would need like 5-10 cars

Lets compare apples to apples and put the gt500 against the z06 :dance

The ZO6 is still going to tap dance on it. Want to know why? Because the Ford GT cant and wont even be able to keep up with it. The ZO6 pulls 1.18 lateral g-forces and traps high 120's. Put some slicks on there and it will run mid 10's all day long. Sorry but Ford wont be keeping up with the new ZO6, Lamborghini, Porsche and Ferrari will have their hands full trying to keep up with the new ZO6.

Thanks for trying.

Ok show me where the Z06 has outperformed the Ford GT??? Have fun finding a z06 with better times then the GT. The GT pulls 11.02 in the 1/4 at like 131-130mph. 0-60 in 3.3 secs. 0-150mph in 16.9 secs. Pulled a like a 7:34 at the ring. Besting the z06 with it's like 7:40 time. The z06 needs to step up to beat a GT, thanks for trying buddy. I think the only place the z06 outperforms the GT is in braking and a few other minor things.

You must be a gm inside news member to spread lies like that :grinno: The GT has already pulled 10's with drags and a slighty smaller pulley and i mean slightly. The car wasn't even workin as good b/c the tire size messed the ecu up. Ferrari and the rest already have thier hands full with the GT.

Also In testing, they actually got a car up to 212 mph, which is redline in fifth gear. Sixth gear is too tall, so you run top speed in fifth. It got to 211.89 mph, and we were bouncing off the rev limiter in fifth gear and it was still accelerating. z06 top speed is 198mph. GT is governed at 205mph.

Super gm fanboys come out even on autopia, pretty funny :D

all this talk about ford gt's and gt500s and no ones mentioned ford needs a giant blower on each just to keep up with a n/a engine :LOLOL lower the compression and put a turbo or a supercharger on there, wouldnt be suprised to see 700-800rwhp or even more

Run what yah bring, supercharged or not the engine's are beasts. Easier to mod that way. Set of pullies and the competition is in a heap of trouble.

Another thing ford makes in a 3.0L engine then what gm needs a 3.5 or 3.9 L to make so......

I'd be curious to see a link to the explanation for this. I have some minor knowledge of how fuel control software works, and I can't for the life of me figure out how a different tire size would affect the program. Or are you referring to something with the traction control or the transmission ECU?

And now, I have to play moderator for a moment: You need to tone it down. "Spread lies"? "Super GM fanboy"? Down that path lies a timeout . . . if you'd like to discuss the relative merits of Ford vs. GM, feel free, but do it politely, or expect to sit out for a while. Your choice.

sorry if i was blunt, next time i will say they were being untruthful and a big fan of general motors. They shouldn't come into a thread give thier piece with no proof and then disappear. To go on and say the z06 out does the GT witn no proof is kinda dumb, wouldn't you say. I don't wanna be put in the thinking chair for getting the facts straight.

The whole ecu thing they never went into the topic deeply, they just said the ecu played with some things b/c the car never felt as strong after they put on the drag tires.

Its okay, you are from Canada and drive a ZX3. I can understand some of your anger and favortism torwards Ford. :bigups :tribe:

BTW read this :

Porsche’s $440,000, 604-hp Carrera GT, with a seven-minute, 32.44-second lap, is the only production car to have gone quicker. For perspective, Lamborghini’s $283,000, 580-hp Murciélago clocked in at seven minutes, 50 seconds, and the $452,000, 671-hp McLaren-Mercedes SLR at seven minutes, 52 seconds.
