7424 first use

Weather permitting I am going to use my 7424 today. I just wanted to ask is there anything to be wary of. Like curved surfaces ridges in the metal. Will it go over uneven surfaces? On the top of my van there are ridges will it be ok to go over those or does the tool need to be kept on a flat surface? Do you apply a small amount of product to the pad? I will be using Platinum products.

Yes, the 7424 is not like a rotary! It will go over the uneven surfaces without doing damage......... just don't press hard as you're going over those high/curved spots, and don't bang the backing plate into anything.................. and you should be OK.

As for application of product to the pad............. I like to apply a few tiny "dabs" of the product all over the pad, then lightly press the pad on the paint and spread the product around a bit before turning it on. Remember to always turn the machine on, and off while it's still on the surface, or you'll have splatter all over.
