7 Wax/Sealant Durability Shootout(muliple pics)

I would bet the 476s kicks butt in this competition! One of these days I'm going to get around to getting some of it,but I'm swimming in LSP's right now.
 
aboveclean, kudos my man for taking the time to do this comparison. i really like cg's 50/50, for awhile i did'nt know if it was just me or what, but i love the finish it prduces. the beading is excellent also. thanks again.:goodjob
 
1Week Update:



Thought I would give the first week update.

Rained twice this week both moderate.

Frost on the vehicle in the morning quite a few times.

Truck is not garaged.



These opinions are only after a week so they will change:



  • CG Jet Seal, Top Coat and Factory Seal are pretty much the same product.

  • Pinnacle seems to be the least durable of the Paste Waxes.

  • 50/50 and 476S have similar beading.

  • Optimum Car Wax beads like the 50/50 and 476S but is 50% quicker to apply/remove.

As a 98 TJ owner, the reason I'm drooling from your test is because of the pristine black hood. It looks amazing, Im jealous.
 
I am surprised that the JS109 is not doing as good as I thought it would. I have heard people speak highly of this product but it looks like a few wax's like 50/50 and 476 are kicking it's butt.

I know in the UK a lot of detailers started using it on wheels because it had such horrible durablity.
 
I think that this test is going to prove my point about collinite being one of the (my personal favorite) best LSPs out there. I do not doubt that it will outlast 90% of sealants.

Keep in mind, the lack of beading doesn't indicate a lack of durability with synthetic waxes (that includes sealants and hybrid waxes like 50/50 and 476s). Cleaning ability and slickness is a better guide.

I guess you can't believe everything you read on "some" of these forums. This is why I usually try everything myself before making a judgement.

Agreed. But this test seems to verify it, and with all the quality sealants I have, why spend my money to prove somebody else right..

Beading may not tell you everything, but it certainly is the easiest to judge. Imagine trying to actually do a test for cleaning ability or slickness????

i know it seems unreasonable, but it should be allowed to sit and cure for 8-12 hrs/overnight
