7.5" Lake Country Pad Question

Why do websites say that people new to using a PC should not use a 7.5" pad until they gain experience? I'm going to buy them regardless but am really wondering why various websites say that.
 
The pad isn't flat, its concave with curved edges. If you choose the 7.5 pads, you will have less pad to use and adjusting takes skill. Useful for Rotary users since less pad touching, concave for splatter and you can probably use the edges.



All on personal experience, but if your new with a PC it will probably take you longer to polish.
 
I've pretty much used nothing but the 7.5 "advanced" pads with my PC. I don't see where a learning curve is needed with them. I like them better since the backing plate is protected and centering of the pad is easier.

Ueah, but IMO your Cyclo experience will translate a lot better to the rotary that PC experience would. From now on, when you use the Cyclo pretend it's a rotary- e.g., keep it moving instead of "pausing" at the end of your motions.



I hadn't used a rotary in over 20 years, but I always used the Cyclo as if it were one. When I did go back to the rotary, it was pretty easy to get back into the swing of it ( not that I'm an expert) and I credit my Cyclo practice.

Heh heh, somehow I'm just not getting the hang of using these with a rotary for "normal" work, though the weird shape does lend itself to weird applications (using the back side, edges, etc. in a way you'd never try with a regular pad). I guess it's just a matter of familiarity, but I always feel more comfortable/confident using the rotary with "regular" shaped pads :nixweiss
