7.5 hours on a camry, WOW!

zesty-man

how do ya like it?
well, today i got an abrupt awakening by my dad at 6:30 in the morning (i slept at 2:00 am), telling me that aunty ann was on the phone. well anyways, ann told me that her friend wanted me to detail her car today, so i agreeded. i took a shower to wake up, and when i got out i noticed a white camry in my drive way. it didnt look too bad, but i didnt know what was ahead of me.. heres what i did. i would say that i went the extra mile on this one, but that would be a lie. i went the extra island on this one.............

wash megs gold class (3 buckets.....)
mothers clay
interior vaccum
"goo gone" to take off this weird stick stuff, worked like a charm, but took very long
ssr2
ssr1
NXT wax
stoners invisible glass
bold and bright
spray and wipe

finally after 5 pepsis, 11 microfibers, 2 waffle weaves, 1 mf applicator, 2 tires swipes, 2 "edge" pads, 2 terry towels (for goo gone), 7.5 hours, 1 tired boy, i FINISHED. it was at about 3:10 PM when i finished, and i gave my aunty a ring, and her friend actually picked up the phone and talked to me. she said that she was waiting for a long time (shes a teacher, and she had to teach class anyway), but i ask oh, im done. anyways, when they started heading down, i did all last minute check ups. then i forgot that i didnt NXT the roof :beat :beat, but it was too late for that, because i saw my aunty's car coming already. maybe ill sneak to her house, and wax her roof secretly...

in the end, it paid off, and she REALLY paid... i mean, big time. i was planning on charging her about 50 bucks (and this voice in the back of my mind was telling me to charge 90), but she gave me a 100!!!! when she gave me that i said "oh, lemme go grab some change". she said, "NO NO! just keep it and dont tell your aunty" :). my very first three digit job!!!:headbang

anyways, heres some pics. i mainly focused on what the goo gone did. i wish i had taken some pics of it outside, but i didnt think she was in the mood for waiting, so i just let her go. you should have seen when she backed out of the driveway. the light was BLINDING. i think she may cause some accidents on the way home. :-p

heres an after image. a lesson that ive learned is that, a toothbrush is more abrasive than a terry towel. it can also get to tighter places.

another after image. the goo gone also worked very well on that weird looking black stuff. i was very proud to open the door, revealing a very clean inside.

final image. i know how some people on autopia are saying that taking pictures of cars in the shade, with palm trees in the background means nothing, but cut me some slack. ill assure you there werent many imperfections :P, that is, if you trust me enought to believe me. also, its a white car, so that may be why its not very clear. anyways, check this out.

those two black things to the right were her things that shoot out water.

Hi Zesty-man...

Great job! Wow 7.5 hours. You are too good. You want to detail my 4Runner. :D

Keep up the great work. And I'm glad the Goo Gone worked after all. :) Look on the plus side, it's white. :lmfao

With Aloha,
Ranney :)

Looks absolutely beautiful! Looks like time well spent!

Good job on the door jambs, they look clean enough to eat off of!

Great job! That's a nice looking car.

As I was looking at the pictures the car seats reminded me of Hawaii, that's when I noticed that you live there! Just yesterday my wife and I were saying how much we want to return there for a vacation. We visited Kauai and Maui on our honeymoon last year and have been thinking of ways to return since then! You're a lucky man!

That gooey stuff is rust proofing. We're told to goop it on like that so the customer really sees it.

uh oh, was it a bad idea to take that stuff off?

ah ranney, if it takes me that long to do a sedan, i wonder how long its gonna take me to do a suv. i juust woke up, and im having a hard time lifting my arms.....
