Last week after doing some reading I decided to try out some 6.5" pads on the rotary. I ordered the 5" Meguiars backing plate along with 8 Meguiars 6.5" pads (4 Burgandy and 4Beige).
The backing plate specifically says for use with the W8006 pads which is what I ordered. The backing plate has the normal centering peice on it. I'm not sure exactly what it's called but it's the small "knob" that fits into the hole on rotary pads to make sure they are centered. The problem however is that the W8006 pads don't have the a hole in them that a normal rotary pad would have. The velcro on the back has the hole but the pad itself doesn't. It bascially looks like pad for PC.
So my question is, for you guys who have used 6.5" pads on the rotary what was the easist way to cut the hole in the pad? The foam is so flexible that I'm afraid a drill bit would just catch the foam it and tear it rather than drill through.
