Rick-n-Miami- Welcome to Autopia!

I take it this is your 'rauder...nice car (gee, there's an understatement :o ).

Nice to see a fellow panther-platform fan here; big sedans can be fun.

todd,

great work as always. you can inspire people with your work! very professional the whole way around. good job again.

Amazing work once again, Todd! :xyxthumbs

The car looks amazing, especially for silver...

Glad to see you are staying busy!

Bob...thank you, and thanks about the garage as well. It was a lot of work over the winter to remodel it, but it turned out great imo. OCD is the way to be in this business, right? :)

Sam...Yes, when you open the hood you realize it's all business! You should hear this thing too.

Barry...Thank you once again for the kind words. I certainly appreciate them.

stotte20...Thanks. He's told me some stories about people that have made the mistake of challenging this car. :doh

Bryan...Thanks buddy! You'll need to come over and check it out when you come up to OH to visit family.

Rick...Thanks man! Yes, quite busy with all that's going on. But then again you wrote the book on "busy", and would know all about it.

Hemin8r...Thank you!

heres your quote "I used a wide variety of polishes, pads, and tools on this car depending on the needs. For the hood, I used Micro Surface black wool pad with SIP to remove some of the deeper defects, and followed it up with 106ff on a grey pad. The sides of the car got 106ff on a grey pad. The trunk lid and roof got M105/orange pad on a PC. After I finished the car, I went back over it with Optimum Poli-seal on a PC with a white pad."

I am just curious on how/why you selected each of your choices for polishing?

Did you use pc with 106ff and gray or rotary?

Why did you use white pad for finishing with poliseal? instead of say a soft gray?

Please do not take my questioning as insult, its looks awesome. I am just trying to help myself learn alittle for future details of my own.

No problem at all, and a matter of fact a good series of questions.

First of all I knew the condition of the paint, I was familiar with what it takes to correct this kind of paint, and what looks good on this particular color (Poliseal). From there I had a good idea of what I would need when I started out.

I wanted to test the difference between heavier polishing on the hood with the rotary, and the trunk lid and roof with the PC. The hood utilized a black wool pad and SIP with a rotary. It cut well, but took a few passes (although I wasn't using as heavy of a polish as with the PC, so it's not an apples to apples test). It also left some holograms, and I needed to follow it up with 106/rotary.

The vertical surfaces were in good shape, and could be polished with 106ff/grey/rotary.

I then moved on to the trunk lid and roof with the PC/orange/105. Not only did I make very quick work of those areas, but I was able to get it to finish down almost LSP ready on the silver finish.

For the final polishing with the Poliseal, I used a white pad instead of grey so that it would give me a little more polishing capability over the areas where I had used the orange/105.

I hope that clears it up a bit for you.

I might be doing a panther-platform Ford later this year so your experience might save me some time/hassle. I'm guessing that the clear is medium-soft...how would you describe it?

Yep, you've pretty much nailed it. It was just like about every other Ford product I've worked on...medium-soft and easy to work with.

Todd - Sorry I'm once again late to your party...hehe! Car looks great. You've got a lot more patience than I do after seeing all that rubber that needed to be removed! Great job! Thanks again for swinging by the other night while you were in town!
