542 RWHP sleeper sedan! Esoteric Auto Detail

Superior job Todd. :usa

I am especially fond of the engine work you did.

As for the tires (er...um...tar) on the body, I've been there before with a razor blade. Super time consuming but such a nice attention to detail to take the wheels off and take care of it.

My question is: Why take the trouble to bend tire brushes though if you ended up taking the wheel off? Maybe you only took off the rear set.

Anyway...stellar!

George...thanks! Yep, I missed that one. I used Optimum Opti-Bond (x2).

David...Thank you as well. You're correct in that the front wheels didn't need to be removed.

..The tweaking is most likely just in the rear end (broke the posi), and getting some slicks on it for the track. I should have been more specific in the original post. I think he's really happy with the way it's running...

Ah, OK...that makes sense. Heh heh, if he does get slicks the new posi might not last all that long either!

Todd,

The car looks fantastic! Excellent work as usual!

And yes, this is a Lidio-built vehicle, and I am on mercurymarauder.net and motorcitymarauders.com as Rick-n-Miami.

I'll bring the Marauder back to Todd later this year!

Best,

Rick

Yet another amazing write-up, second only to the detail work you performed! Thanks very much for sharing this one.

What an amazing car - remarkably underwhelming in stock form, but this one is an absolute beast...wow! Top notch work, including the interior - the display screen and gauges in the center stack look like they were installed at the factory. And that those wheels tuck so nicely while housing those meats shows the research that went in to keeping this thing looking stock. Kudos to the owner!

Not sure if this adds any value, but a couple of the 'Vette guys whose cars I've worked on have had 3M film installed on the rear quarters for protection against impromptu burnouts and doughnuts.

Thanks again for a peek at this car and for sharing your outstanding work.

Excellent work once again Todd!

I don't recall seeing one of those in silver before either. Paint looks like it was pretty smooth with very little orange peel...don't think I've seen silver look that good before. :2thumbs:

LOL @ the 9 body trunk and being from FL! I just watched "Cocaine Cowboys" again the other night! :D

Looks great! Very good writeup too.

He should be running faster than 11.6 though, but then again he was on cheap street tires so...

It was on Mickey Thompson ET Streets (305/45/18) @ 17PSI. Keep in mind the car's race weight is ~4800lbs and the Eaton posi broke on launch...

Oh, ok I figured it was on the Nitto 555's that are in the pics. Didn't know the ET Streets came in 18" though. Or are they the ET Street radials? 4800 seems heavy for that car... My mom's lincoln town car (96') is only 4000. Still a good time for a full weight/interior car.

They're drag radials, and the 18" is a new size just released last Summer.

The car weighs 4200 stock. I have about 300lbs of dynamat and then my 275lbs, and then some for the gas. So, the race weight is about 4800lbs in total.

I agree though, if this engine was in a lighter car, like a Cobra, it would easily be 10's.

Rick...it was a pleasure working on the beast again! Thank you.

J-F...thanks, I certainly appreciate it.

Jerry...thank you. I try to go the extra mile on both the detail work as well as the write up itself. The positive feedback I get (like yours) tells me I'm doing something right, and continuously gives me more ideas for future write ups.

dsms-Dave...thanks. I too thought that this silver turned out really nice.

Rasky...thanks. Fortunately Rick has done a fantastic job of maintaining the finish of the car, so it made my job easier. I also got a big kick out of the 9-body trunk when he said it. :lol

Jeff...thanks. Rick's follow up comment says it all.

Rick...I look forward to your future runs when you get the posi straightened out and slicks. BTW, I want a full-throttle ride in that thing!

Simon...thanks, and yes it was definitely a lot of work!

Thomas...thanks. When Rick sent me the video the other night, I must have watched it 5 times and told him that I was going to put it in the thread.

Flawless...thanks...a little over 12 hours.

ohiostate...thank you. Oh, and BIG TIME Buckeyes fan here! If I had not been working on this car Saturday I would have attended the spring game with 97,000 of my closest friends! :)

red4.8...thank you. Detailed Image has them in stock now.

Thats a LOT of dynamat! I forgot about the driver too :dig lol

You have an awesome car! And you certainly know how to pick good detailers too!

I'd love to see that thing run with a set of 15" Prostars. 15x3.5 front, 15x10 rear with some ET Drags. :2thumbs:
