50 layers zaino picture

I will believe the 50 layers makes a difference when you can measure a huge difference when using a paint thickness gauge.

Good marketing for Zaino.

Question: How do you get people to use a durable product more often?

Answer: Layering! :2thumbs:

Last year i stumbled across a photo online of a guy who had applied 50 layers of zaino to his ride...It was a photo with a little celebration in front of it...

Has anyone seen it or can they recall it???

I am desperate for this photo...

Thanks in advance...

Marc

I remember another one that when the chat forum was up would also post about how many layers he had on this car of his.

In between chats, he claims to apply another layer. Oh it was classic BS and we lead him on for a little bit, then after time ran away because we were "haters" or something to that effect. Can't remember his forum name, but it sure was a good laugh on the many layers he applied.

I'm sure one of you will remember this...:hm:nixweiss

I call this the commentary that can be generated from a picture involving zaino phenomenon thread.

Same deal with NXT threads. They used to go on for pages. Those two products seem to devlop more debate than anything else and there seems to be very little middle ground.

The funny thing is, the extreme layering crowd does more to turn people off to even trying Zaino than anything else.

I'm pretty sure we'd have 3 pages of comments if someone posted the same pic and put "50 layers of zymol" or "50 layers of turtle wax". The idea of 50 layers of anything is kind of laughable no matter what the product.

I'd have to agree with ya Picus.

Waxing/sealing after every couple of washes is reasonable, but applying layer after layer of anything just silly.

I agree. It takes Zaino from being one of the easiest products to use to one of the most time-consuming and complicated.

I remember trying too talk to that guy about 2 years ago (if not more) about his "50th" layer. He is one of the biggest Zaino proponants I have ever had the misfortune of talking with. I ended up never revisiting the forums because of our disagreements.....lol

Hahahahahaha , quality...

Well the 50 layer picture was needed by me because i have simply set myself a goal to answer a few questions in my head with multi , multi layering to see what effedts it has and also if it will help with stone chipping issues etc.... I have a white ride and have to be honest after nearly 3 weeks of applying everyday minus one weekend after 6 layers my eye is not noticeing anything different but like i say its a personal goal for me so its enjoyable...:spot

Shame my car wasnt black though as white is a mare to get massive improvement with..

I think it's kind of ironic (and funny) that the guy is catching crap from one of most detailing eccentric sites on the net. So what if he has 50 layers of XYZ product! So what if he really only "needs" 2. He could have 200 and I wouldn't care; in fact, I would envy him that he has the time, resources, and patience to do it for the fun of it. Isn't that what this site and detailing was "supposed" to be about, the fun??? Why take the fun away from it, if that's what someone enjoys? It's his car and his time. It just seems funny to me that of all the sites that you would "think" would be fine with it, instead beat him down about it. Or could it be that it's really just Zaino that is taking the beat down? Hmmmm

Thats my phiosophy Mike to be honest.... 3 weeks of my life spent in the garage for 5 hours a day every evening but i love it , then im gonna top with layers of crystal rock , am i concerned , hell no otherwise id have just put one on and forgotten about it....Doing x amount of layers on my car so far has taught me quite a few things good and bad and also will see if it stands the test of time like 5 layers of z royale did on my ride for 15 months....

This is 1 layer of Petes 53 on a car i did..

Now could it get any better?? Could it get a better depth??

How will i know if i dont try these insane detailing conundrums...

Give it a rest Mike. I don't see this thread as an attack in anyway against Zaino. I think it has to do with the issue of wheather 50 coats of any LSP are worth it. If the owner he has the time and takes the effort to do it then I praise him. If the purpose of the pic is to show how great 50 coats of an LSP looks like then I welcome other pics of side by sides. I then ask you to tell me which is which.

Give it a rest? After 1 post? Gee, funny how everyone else got to jump on him "without giving it a rest." And, 1 sentence of my 6 sentence paragraph alludes to Zaino, and 1 sentence necessitates a "give it a rest?" Wow. Just wow. I was merely making a point that the guy should be allowed to do whatever he wants for FUN, and not be criticized for it, especially coming from this site. You know, I can see something like this seen as rather excessive on something like, you know, the Better Homes and Gardens site, but here?

I don't see this as an "issue" of whether 50 is "worth it" or not. I would think that most people on this site would already KNOW the answer to that question, without having to run it into the ground (how about a rest there?). So, other that that, what is the issue with then? That's why I brought the one sentence Zaino question in there, which was apparantely to much for some to handle. lol

If we're not allowing detailing to be fun anymore without fear of criticisms, what are we doing here?

No Mike. My point was that it appeared to me that you were going to "beat the Zaino drum" and turn this into a why are we bashing Zaino thread. As I described above, if the person wants to put 50 layers on an LSP on this car by all means do it. If he enjoys doing it then certainly thats what detailing is all about.

My point is would you really be able to tell the diff between 10...20...30 coats. If so, I would love to see pics. I could put a sign next to my 350Z saying I have 10 coats. Would anyone be able to tell if that was true or not??...doubtful....

My comments were meant to avoid this thread turning into another potential bash of a product line as stated in your "potential Zaino beat down".

What is funny to me is that he made a sign like it is cause for celebration. I really don't get that mindset. :nixweiss

That's fine, but maybe to him it is cause for celebration. If one of his personal goals of the hobby was to get to 50 coats, then great, I can understand that, he achieved his goal and is happy. I wouldn't have any problem if he or anyone else did 50 or 100 coats of Zaino, NXT, P21S, Collinite, or anything else. I know I couldn't possibly do 50 coats of something, so I guess if I ever did, I would celebrate too!

I probably couldn't tell the difference, from a picture on the net, in 1, 5, or 50 coats, but that's not for me to judge. I just appreciate someone who has the time and effort to enjoy their hobby. I could more than likely make a car look similar with 1 coat of AW, but that's not the point IMO. He achieved something fun and a goal for himself, and I can share in his excitement, even though I personally don't have more than 2-3 coats of anything on my car. But I can't speak for this guy (who I think was a member here at one time). I don't know his exact motive or the situation or anything...so I'm just guessing why he's excited...

I'm sure applying 50 layer has made the owner happy... clearly, he's made a little sign for it. Fair play to him. :)

Whether or not the 50 layers make a difference is a matter of debate - well, it isn't really, I think we are all pretty much convinced we've long going into the law of diminishing returns there, but at the end of the day, if someone wants to layer 50, or 5,000,000 layers of something on their car, thats up to them :)

My Volvo is looking pretty damn sweet with 5 layers of Z2 and Z5, topped with Z8... just going to wash and top up with Z8 every so often now, though given how easy the Z8 is to use and how nice it smells, it may be getting this every wash!! LOL

Dave, Along with your stunning C&Bs and excellent advice, we also get common sense.

Thank you!
