5" vs 6" porter cable

Wondering about the porter cable counter weight. I would think this would be a plus to have when using the 7424 or 7336 ,but I see it is a 6" and needs to be used with a 6" backing pad. So my question is wouldnt it be smarter to purchase the 7336 that comes with the 6"pad already? It seems you would be spending more money if you purchased the 7424 and then wanted to use the 6" counter weight. please help... thankyou :help:
 
A lot of people who buy the 7424 upgrade to the 6" counterweight. However, from what I've read it makes little to no difference.
 
I have a 7424 with 4" pad and a 7336 with 5" pad. I have never touched the counterweights or had any problems. Also have a DW443 6" pad and I cant tell you if it even has a counter weight.
 
I agree with Mikeyc. Have the 5 inch counter weight and it is the last of a long list of things that i will purchase. Maybe when i get done with the list :shifty: .
