I found this on detailers paradise and on the bottom of the info they offer a warning on the adapter coming of the BP. Seems to becoming a common problem with the adapters.

Why don't PC's have a centre post like my DW849?

The threading is opposite for the rotary and the PC. There's a reason why I have a 6" backing plate for my rotary and one for my PC. This way I don't need an adaptor yet I can use the same pads. Atleast it is known to tighten the adaptor now.
