4th Gen Maxima Cleaning/Detailing

One of the most common of all Maxima Generations is the 4th Gen ('95 - '99). The model designation for these is A32. There are some particulars to cleaning those as well.



a) Like the 3rd Gens, the grille design is quite difficult to clean (especially on the '95-96). You will need a brush to get into the tighter spaces on the grille. The '97-99 Grille is different but still narrow.



b) '95-'96 SE rims are polished aluminum and clearcoated. You can treat them like the 3rd Gen rims (Clay, Polish, Glaze)

'97-99 5 Spoke SE rims are a slightly different animal. For one, there is a split between the spokes of the rim that can be quite difficult to clean w/o a brush.

Working on getting that spoiler on....I have it sitting in my garage ready to go :(
 
On the tops of 4th Gens, there are two deep grooves that run along the length of the top. The way to approach those is to clay the rest of the top as normal. After claying the rest of the top, clay the grooves, making sure that the clay gets deep enough in the grooves.
 
The best thing about detailing these cars is that there are an abundance of flat surfaces. But be very careful if using the rotary on the trim of these cars. Like GSR's Pathfinder, the paint on the moldings can be kind of thin.
 
Besides the "sawblade" rims and the 5 spoke rim, there is a modified honeycomb rim on these vehicles that will require the use of a brush to clean these rims effectively.
