3M Ultrafina Wow!

Just finished polishing the Impala with Ultrafina, and I can't say enough about this stuff.:2thumbs:

I had the car painted last year, and the new paint is ultra soft. Since it's black of course it shows every little thing, and I have been very frustrated trying to find a good combo. I couldn't get anything to finish down without swirls. It felt like the more I tried, the worse it got.

I bought the Ultrafina and the 3M blue pads about 6 months ago, but quite honestly I had just been burnt out by all the frustration so I let it sit and just ignored the swirls.

Today was pretty cool and I was bored, so I thought I'd just hit one fender and see if I wasted my money. Wow! about 1200 on the makita, blue pad, 3-4 passes max so it didn't dry out, and hoochie mama, what a shine, I found my combo!:heelclick

It actually has quite a bit of correction on this paint, the stuff is still like butter a year later, but even after an IPA wipedown the swirls are history! Still some rids that I need to address, but at least now I know I have a 'go to ' combo after correction.

I have been to the 3M tech center in Minnesota a couple times, but next time I'm gonna kiss one of those scientists.

I have been using UF after every polishing since it came out, I think.

I usually use it when the paint is nearly perfect, and just lightly burnish the paint. It adds a lot of gloss. It is my favorite polish.

Its good stuff. I have two bottles of the stuff. I just finished one bottle recently and am on my second. Though I dont use it for defect removal since it has barely any cut at all. I use it for jeweling/burnishing paint it to a high gloss.

I think UF leaves a pretty glossy finish, but something like PO85rd is better for gloss and depth.

UF however is one of the easiest products to use and works on all paints with no issues. I will always keep a bottle around because certain paints warrant its use and thats where is excels!

Not only does UF have a great wet shine but I've yet to have a hologram pop up after using it, even on cars I haven't seen in a year.

One of these days I need to get some 85rd (or maybe FPII) just to see if *I* can see a difference. If it is really better than what I have now it would have to be great stuff.

FP II = PO85RD Can you use UF with a Flex ??

UF is designed to work with a rotary to remove LIGHT rotary holograms without putting in any of its own. If you want a finishing polish, something like Optimum Finish would be a better and far more economical choice.

Agreed, I have tried UF with a PC and the I think there are better options if you are looking for a PC/flex friendly finishing polish. UF has a very long work time w/o a rotary to break it down. It will work in a pinch, if that's all you have.
