I recently discovered some 'serious' scratches on the hood of my 1994 Toyota Pickup - all the way into the primer. Either someone 'keyed' it or layed something on it and 'drug-it' when picking it up - who knows.
The scratches were serous enough that I thought they were basically permanent. The first thing I did was apply touch-up paint as best I could (w/Langka) and let it set for a week.
Next I tried Scratch-X with almost no improvement. So I decided to try 3M Rubbing Compound Fine Cut. At first it didn't seem to help much. But I kept at it and they started to diminish. I applied the Compound w/terry applicator. I rubbed for at least 1 full hour. I couldn't believe they were starting to disappear. I then applied some SMR and then some #26.
You can still see them at certain angles but what an improvement. This was my first time at working on this serious of a defect.
Great Product !
