Ive come to the question of wich to order?? I have some pretty noticable swils on my car but i was just wondering how good DACP is? Wich of these two is better at removing swirls and slight scratches? I will be Dawn washing then either SMR or DACP after that i will do Clearkotes vanilla moose hand glaze followed by Platinum Ultimate Paint Protection... THanks:up

It depends on the swirls.

Some pictures might help.

If the swirls are deep then you'd probably need DACP to get them out. will you be doing this by hand or do you have a PC?

Personally, I would order both.

If you're going to use Vanilla Moose, don't bother with the SMR. It's pretty weak. Based on Scottwax's information, Vanillar Moose has some slight cutting ability, which would be what SMR would do.

Get the DACP. It's still pretty mild. 6 out of 10 on Meguiar's abrasive scale (#9 is 4 on the scale I think).

By hand I'd definitely go right for the DACP. Anything milder by hand will be kind of disappointing on anything but the lightest defects. I haven't used VM, but if you plan on getting that, DACP -> VM sounds about right, as said.

SMR will SMOKE Vanilla Moose for cutting !!!!

Personally I would use the DACP, then the SMR, and go straight to Platinum.....Im not knockin Clearkote stuff, I use it frequently, but I have never even considered using it for any sort of moderate cleaning or cutting......

I agree with Patrick on the SMR vs. VM. The ONLY way *I* can tell the VM cuts at all is by some color transfer when working single-stage paint. I know others have removed swirls with it, but *I* sure don't get that kind of cutting. I'd use PI-III MG after the DACP (IF anything is needed at all). I've found it works pretty well by hand and it doesn't leave fillers. And it DOES cut, but gently.

But that's point. If he's going to get DACP, no point in getting SMR. That'll do nothing for him except clean up any haze (I have never had hazing problems with DACP, but I use a PC). The VM can do that and be a glaze at the same time.

Heck, all I ever use my SMR for is as a paint cleaner. It's no more effective for removing swirls than Mother's Pre-Wax cleaner.

You need to use DACP and VM or DACP and SMR. If you were to use SMR then VM the VM would remove the fillers in the SMR. SMR is more abrasive than VM. I have spoken to Evert of ClearKote and he claims that VM has some abrasives to it but I have yet to see it do anything besides leave the surface very slick and shiney.
