...........So I click...

....and suddenly I'm back to reality, $59.95! Big difference...........
Yeah, that one caught me a while back. I did finally get one a little cheaper as part of a group buy and it is a super nice BP. 3M is thinking about selling those and the 6" pads here in the states, but the 3M rep I talked with didn't think it was going to happen very soon.

Big time letdown. What happened to the clones that were to be produced?
Ed is supposed to be in contact with the guy who sells them so just keep watching that thread or shoot Ed a PM.

i've noticed there have been a few typo errors in price on some items (links through this site) at detailerdomain, and that is got to be one of them (sometimes some things are too good to be true). if you go to detailerdomain.com, you'll see that the real price $59.95... 3M 09553 Perfect-it Backing Plate (Limited Qty)

p.s. i wouldn't buy one and expect to get it at that price, he would be practically giving them away, and the true pricing will show up in your cart...

Just for clarification, I knew it was a typo and I wasn't going to try to add it to my cart and hold them to that price. I was just trying to be funny and share my experience.

My bad on this one.

No let down, however if you want to use a great backing plate you need to buy one, I the know the price is high but they are getting them from the UK. Just my 2 cents.

Getting stuff from the UK is crazy expensive. That said, I have a 3M bp and prefer the Meguiars W66 to it anyways (plus its 1/3 the cost).

Hey Todd - What do you like more about the W66 in comparison? People are raving about both of them, but I have yet to try either. Each one I think is about 1 inch thick and has a beveled face, so I'm assuming that the center section material in each gives a different feel? Just curious.

I think the 3M foam is slightly softer and slightly thicker. I guess it depends on what size pads you use. I really like the 3M BP for my 5.5" pads. But for anything larger I use the W66 BP. The W66 BP is awesome with the so1o pads. I really like both plates and use them equally.

While I *don't* have the 3M BP I do have a W66 and love it.
