3m clear bra

Hi guys I'm new here :wavey, and I did a search but wasn't really able to find the answer I was looking for. I want to buy/install some of the clear protective tape to the front of my newly painted bumper and hood.

I'm having some trouble finding any place in Toronto that sells or installs the product.

Anybody know where in Toronto I can pick this stuff up from ???

Thanks for the help

Your best bet is to contact a 3M rep in your area via the 3M web site or through a 3M affiliated auto paint retailer or detailer. They have contacts there. Sorry I couldn't help more.:nixweiss

They said they didn't car WHO sent me, that they were an IT company and didn't sell clear bras. Or underpants, for that matter...:nixweiss

I had the film installed when I bought my car. My dealer has a relationship with a company called "Armourfend". I wouldn't go with them again, I am not 100% satisfied with the installation job. The Stongard website looks pretty persuasive to me, that's who I'll try when it's time to re-do it, five or six years from now (I hope!)

Although I had my xpel put on because of a time crunch - many people have had great success DIY. I know Brad put his on himself and it turned out great - just a little patience and a few hours to spare and you should be fine.

I'm not a professional, but I am certainly stubborn.

Over the past 3 years I've installed the Xpel paint protection film on my:

2003 Nissan 350Z

2002 WRX (actually the Stongard kit)

2003 Maxima SE

2001 BMW 330i (wife's car)

Some kits are easy (i.e the Maxima's hood piece), and some kits are very challenging, such as the 350Z bumper piece. Xpel has a difficulty rating scale from 1 to 5 stars. I would not suggest a 3M Scotchcal film novice try a 4 star kit. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Brad B does not have the hood coverage on his S4. Judging from the complexity of the precut film for the Audi S4 (and knowing Brad's attention to detail), I suspect he wasn't satisfied with an imperfect installation.

You are correct. I just installed the Xpel on the leading edges of the bumper and hood, including the sides of the grille, but not the top of the hood. I didn't, personally, like seeing the edge of the film up on the hood top.

Thanks for the help guys, I contacted someone at 3M through the website. I'm just waiting to hear back from them if there is anyone local in Toronto.

Thanks

I had another question, since I'm going to try to install the tape my self.

What do I need and what is the solution mixture used to apply the tape ???

3M film is applied with a wetting solution of 50/50 isopropol alcohol and water.

You can position the film with a slip solution (if needed) with a few drops of Johnsons Baby Shampoo to a quart of water. Then flush out well before final set with the wetting solution.

I think I want to get this after I get my front bumper airbrushed by Aero Colours and re-do my grill myself. How much does it usually cost for the front bumper and maybe a little more.

xpel has a good pricing sheet and it shows you the kit for your car. I honestly wouldnt try anything over a level three without

any practice
