3m Clear Bra Detailing

Don't know if this is the right forum to post in but I was interested in installing the 3m invisibra/clear bra on my car. Anyone with clear bra experience know the maintenance process as far as detailing, waxing, polishing etc. Will you get a duller or different look with the film on?

Take care of it just as if it were your paint. It will have the same Gloss as your finish. I think the 3M film has to much Orange Peel. What color is you car that you want it installed on?

Patrick,

I have installed the new film on a couple of Porsches and a bmw. It is easy to install, I doesn't have as much orange peel as the older film. However I have seen and installed cleaner films

I've developed swirls in my clear bra since it was applied last fall, so I too am interested in how to maintain it.

I highly suggest resist polishes and other abrasive material/products. Keep a good coat of wax on it, preferably something not so rich with PD's....

Excellent! Do you perform a lot of protection packages? Much better material from what I understand.....

I use an dpolish my installs out with FPII and then use OCW to maintain.

As for the new 3M film......it's much improved. It goes on much nicer and just gives you a cleaner look afterward.

If you are trying this on your own my advice is....DON"T! It's very difficult and you'll most likely burn through at least one extra kit. Ron and I install them together and even with four hands it can be tough, especially on Porsche bumpers :hairpull

Like anything though, the more you do it the better you get at it. We did a film the other day on a Porsche 997 under 2 hours.

I have it; recommend it; and will always have a clear bra on future vehicles. I do agree though that you should try to stay away from anything abrasive. If you have swirls then use something extremely gentle such as a fine plastic polish to try to take them out.

Got my bumper, hood, and sideview mirrors repainted in anticipation of placing a clear bra on it. The bodyshop says to wait 2 weeks for the paint to cure before I have someone do the bra. Is this too soon?

Anthony, been there, done that to my own Expedition. Thats why i only do lights and door trim for now. I do have plans to drive to AZ for some training from my supplier though. I would imagine an extra set of hands would be extremely beneficial though.....

[hijack] /*sorry*/

Anyone know any good clear bra installers in the San Fernando Valley or San Diego area?

I would give your new paint 30 days or longer to cure.
