360 Modena

I recieved my order the other day from Dwayne and in that order were a few of the "Das Polster" pads. I figured I would put them to work on this 6 month old Modena as I have never had the chance to fully detail it.

It had the usual dealer prep swirls and washing scratches so I figured the Orange pad, which is a cutting pad, and Menzerna's Intensive Polish should do the trick.

I really love the Orange pad because it allows you to work the paint and product without tons of heat build up. The only draw back is that it is not very forgiving when buffing corners and contours.

Then came the Polster White pad, which is a polishing pad. I again used the IP and kicked up the RPM's to 1800. I used 1500 for the cutting stage. The IP works very nice and removes with ease.

The Polster black finishing pad was next with Menzerna Final Polish at 1000 RPM's. The FP can get sticky and gummy at times and seems to work best with a DA orbital. Final polishing came by way of AIO and then topped with Trade Secret.

Trade Secret just makes the paint come alive, it adds great depth and color. You think this car is RED in the pictures you should see it in real life:cool:

Well I hope you enjoy the pics.

Thanks guys :)

I borrowed a camera from a friend to try before I buy. He has a FujiFilm 6 megapixel SLR. It takes some very nice pics but I still favor a 35 mm SLR. There are pros and cons for both of them.

I need to think it over more.

Again thanks guys. (Not sure about the whole "master" deal.....but thanks for the vote anyways:D )

Very nice work.

I see vehicles like this all the time. I am the single auto detailing specialist for Bentley St. Louis. It is a consistant pleasure detailing vehicles of this type. Please see all my work online at www.bentleystl.com. Go to View Live Showroom and go through all the prompts. The User Name is PUBLIC and don't worry about typing in a password.

I appreciate all the viewers possible. I am new to this forum and hope to share valuabe information with all that I can. I have been detailing for over half a decade specializing in all high end automobiles. I started with a Dodge dealership and realizing my skills, I honed them and became a known name to several Mercedes owners. My transfer to the Mercedes dealer was then a natural choice where I then began detailing many mid to high end vehicles. Five years later I was asked to join Bentley St. Louis. I helped with design and construction of the detail area and was made the auto detailing specialist. This position has allowed me to meet some of the local celebs and sports figures, as well as meet some of the most interesting people abroad.

I decide to give you all a little of my background only to share with you this: The auto industry can take you many places. Detailing is one of the easiest and most rewarding channels to venture down. Many of you may or may not achieve the level you desire so quickly as I did, but do not despare your time will come. Go by my motto: It does not matter what kind of cars you clean, it only matters if the customers return. Give the customer your best possible detail and make it a great experience for them. Your customer base will grow greatly. Enjoy detailing!

I really wish I had some place around here to teach me all of the inns and outs of doing a real good and proper detail job. Right now I just do the best that I can, and its all done by hand (sigh).

Tassadar,

You have the right outlook and the desire is there, which is great, but don't get down on yourself and think that you must use a polisher. I know a guy who never uses a polisher and the work he puts out is just fantastic.

One detail at a time.

Yeah I dont really have the need for the polisher right now. I am still begging to find cars to detail. The only other place that does it locally is always JAMMED full of cars, but I cant even get a couple.

LOL! I "used" to sell electronics and had the same problem...,
I would sell for WAY less, the same brand and model, and people would rather go down the street and pay $100's more..., I just could not figure that one out.
"Stereo" people are a strange bunch..., The "detailing" people are a lot higher class of folks, IMO..., (for the most part)

Yeah stereo installs in cars are a PITA. I did my own work on that, and a few friends wanted me to do their cars and were obviously willing to pay me, but for the effort involved in that I knew I would want to charge them too much.

Detailing is a different world, different clients (not teenagers), and is just more fun :D . My problem is that as much fun as it is, I cant get anyone to use my services!

wow anthony, that car is sweet. i'd love to see the shine on it in person. great job...

i'm working out a deal with the german automotive mechanic next to my shop. could lead to lots of porsche, bmw and mercedes details. just might have to test them out on a little drive, you know, to make sure i didn't miss any spots ;)

tim,

Thanks for the compliment and I also hope that deal goes through for you. All it takes is just one customer to get the ball rolling and BAM! You're set.
