I took a drive out to Pebble Beach and onto 17-mile drive to take care of a client's 32 roadster. I had done his '67 Ferrari 330GT earlier. Owned by a retired Indy 500 driver (you can see the trophies all over the garage...).
This 32 was to be a driver, not a showcar, so a simple correction was carried out. The paint was quite thin and could not support a full correction, so I did as much as could be performed safely on the thin paint.
Upon arrival, it was pretty clean
This was one of the thickest readings on the paint.....Not exactly what I wanted to see
Most of the car read in the 40's or 50's (microns). Scary thin.
Before
After
Previous detailer left a few of these behind while it was in the possesion of the previous owner. Another reason a paint depth gauge is a smart investment... If the last guy had one, strike-throughs like this could have been avoided.
Making some progress....
All finished
I loved the color on these wheels
