I just started using it and it leaves the surface a little slick so that is not good on a steering wheel. It is also has a shinier finish than I expected. I wonder if other products leave it less shiny.

Dip a MF in water, wring out, then spritz 303 on the MF and apply..

great thanks for the help,i will use the MF trick and keep it off steering wheel. have been using back to black is it ok to apply 303 over it or do need to wipe it off with something? thanks

You might want to apply a real weakend all purpose cleaner to remove those oils.....Then use the 303...303 gets better with each use also....

I recently tried 303 on my new car and it wasn't real even (the dash was a little warm)..it really seemed to soak it in and really richened it up . I had to do 2 or 3 coats to get it even, but then it was shinier than I expected (but I wouldn't call it glossy by any means)..I went over it with a dry MF a day later and it toned it down

I'll try the damp MF trick next time!

I'll echo Patrick on 303 getting better with each use. I had the opportunity to try it on my new tires, after I gave them a scrubbing. I liked the look (looks nice but not glossy), the longevity, and it does not attract dust like many other products do. Each time I use it, I like it more.

I'm sold on it. It works great on my dash, and interior parts, for the same reason mentioned above.

I gotta believe that if you looked in the "arsenal" of the Autopians who frequent here, you would find some 303.

This a very good recipe. I dilute 303 even more before the spritz. Comes out a neutral shine on most surfaces. I always wipe with a dry MF after. TOTL's Best Dressed also works well, as do many other water based dressings.

How does Lexol in the blue bottle, compare in shike and durability?

It's Vinylex, I've used it and it has less shine than 303 does, and also has UV inhibitors in it like 303 does. I can't say too much about durability since I always reapply before it's completely gone, but I'd say it's on par with 303 for durability.

How much do you dilute the 303? 1:1 with water? I have some 303 that I would like to use up but find that 303 applied directly to my black dashboard has too much gloss.

Thanks!

My issue with Vinylex is that it's not durable. Touch it, and that spot no longer has that "low gloss". That being said, does 303 shine more like Armour All?

When I did research (discussion board), 303 was supposed to be one of the least shine products compared to AA (all flavors), Mother's Protectant, Meg Natural Shine, Meg's #40, etc.

Hmmm, so more shine than Vinylex, yet not as glossy as Armour All.

Does it come off when you touch it?

303 is my protectant of choice and I would call it anything but glossy or shiny. In my experience it has much less shine than Vinylex; I actually switched from Vinylex to 303 because of the higher shine of Vinylex. I apply 303 with a foam applicator and let it sit for about 15 minutes then buff off the excess with a clean MF. It gives me a natural looking dash without any shine or gloss. In between applications of 303 I maintain with Meg's QID.

I heard that Optimum's Protectanct Plus has very little shine and gloss...even less than 303. I'm going to try Protectant Plus next. I have also heard good things about JW's Satin Prot.

303 is definitely less glossy than Vinylex...but still too glossy for me. I want a matte finish (just like my original dash surface) with UV protection.

I clean in between with Meg's QID which I find to be a great product. I just need more UV protection than Meg's QID alone.

BTW, I personally don't think it is a big deal on the steering wheel and shifter. Sure, it's a little slippery at the beginning for slow speed turns and shifts (especially if its your first experience), but that goes away pretty quickly. Just grip a little tighter.

IMHO it's nowhere near slick enough to cause an "accidental" slip in an emergency...

I'm a big 303 fan. I also like the way it makes the interior smell :nervous:

I like 303 so far but it is shiner than I expected but then I have used only used a few products.
