303 protectant

Funny, I don't notice the smell when using 303. I do like the results though, I'm not a fan of the overly shiny interior.
 
I just used 303 on a tonneau bed cover, tires, head lights, tail lights and bumber. The stuff seems to work exactly as advertised. It deepens blacks and brightens plastic. Although the plastic looks shiny when you are done, the vinyl does not. But the gloss on vinyl is pleasant, and I really didn't smell anything objectionable. I cannot yet comment on durability, but most people here say the stuff stays with your tires pretty long, and believe them.

On vinyl and tires you won't get a lot of shine, just an understated gloss (a natural look, I think). The wax is Blackfire. The truck and the bedcover are almost new. Don't know about results on older surfaces. If you want to check for protectant on the lights, wipe with a dry cloth. For just an instant you will see a haze, which disappears quickly. I've received a lot of help on this site, so this is my contribution to the 303 area.

First, it sounds like some of you would like the look of ProtectAll on the interior - I use it on everything except the carpet (leather, vinyl, glass, plastic, rubber, chrome). I would describe it as a rich lustre without a shine. (Some people also like it as a paint quick detailer, but it isn't as longlasting as some other products). You can find it in the RV SECTION of WalMart, quite reasonable.



Second, based on the recommendations from this site, my 303 order is on the way. Referencing the above quote, 303's pricing structure is STRANGE. Basically, if you work the specials and get a total over $50, the shipping is a quite reasonable $10.00. For instance, $22.95 buys a 16 oz. spray bottle plus a quart refill. Based on postings on this site, I wanted to purchase 303 top protector:

I also did some research (www.autopia.org) and concluded the following:



1. 303 High Tech Fabric Guard is seems to be universally regarded as the best for fabric convertible tops.



2. Ultra Cote 2 is impractical for me. It's difficult to find and purchase and our the expert highly advises to let it soak in for 4 days before wiping it off. Really can't do that with a daily driver.



3. The lead product from 303 is their Aerospace Protectant. With the possible exception of Ultra Cote 2, 303 Aerospacee Protectant seems to be the most highly recommended. For 303's recommendation for engine detailing see: http://www.303products.com/techinfo/automotive/hoses.htm



4. 303 also makes a convertible top cleaner, which I know nothing about.



5. Shipping charges on individual 303 products is high.



6. There are pricing anomalies in the product line:



[gallon of aerospace protectant is MORE than a gallon PLUS a 16 oz spray bottle ($59.95 vs. $52.90)]



[2-16 oz spray bottles are the SAME price as bulk quart ($19.95); for only $2.90 more, you get an extra 16 oz]



[the convertible top "kits" cost more than the individual items]



[a quart of top cleaner is virtually the same cost as 16 oz - $7.95 vs. $6.95]



SOOoooo, in order to take advantage of the bulk shipping costs (over $50) I have determined the following to be the Optimum Economic Order Quantity for Aerospace Protectant, Top Cleaner and Top Protector:



$22.90 for Quart + 16 oz spray Aerospace Protectant

$19.95 for 2-16 oz pump bottles of High Tech Fabric Guard

$7.95 for 32 oz. pump convertible top cleaner

------

$50.80 total plus $10.00 shipping.



Note that this can be optimized even further since the $10.00 shipping will cover up to $75.00 of products.

I scratched my head and had to pull out the calculator for this one:



MildSeven purchased 1 qt. for (we'll ignore the tax):

$18.99 + $1.00 shipping = $19.99



Direct from 303 for 1-1/2 qt.:

$22.90 + $7.00 single-item shipping (worst case) = $29.90

Cost per quart = $19.93



THAT'S CLOSE!



However, we know the 303 order comes with a spray bottle (MildSeven - did yours come with a spray?).

And, this is worst case for 303 - if combined with other products for the $10 bulk shipping, it gets cheaper per quart (works out to $18.12 per quart with shipping for my above order).



By the way, MildSeven, where did you get yours for those who may only want a quart? That dollar shipping charge is cheap!

Just received my order, and it gets even better: both the 303 - 16 oz spray bottle AND the quart REFILL both came with sprayer heads. Looks like if you buy over $50, buying direct from 303 is least expensive. For smaller orders, looks like you can't beat camping world with that $1.00 shipping.

How many products?? Where to start... . I have tried the Aerospace 303, old 303 before the aerospace came out, Armor All(the old formula,; I hate it so much that I am scared to try the new formula), TW, No Touch( the white, the red, and the purple cans), Pro Wax (water based wipe on), Meguiar's (liked that one), plus others...I will have to look in boxes of my old supplies. I remember something in a bright green bottle(way too greasy!!)



Most were not low gloss. I found that the 303 Aerospace seems to cover better, does not attract dust as easily, and it is not overly greasy. I still have to wipe it down a little extra on the dash to prevent glare. I have had no cracking problems or yellowing/browning problems.



My next choice, believe it or not , is the original formula of No Touch (white can)
 
Do many of you autopians smell your tires or your dashboard after applying the 303?? :D



I have never smelled the stuff when I use it. I have to disagree some with the members who say it leaves a low gloss shine on tires. I think that it makes tires look new, but I fail to discern any type of 'shine' on the tire. It does leave a satiny finish on the dash though...maybe the stuff just works better on the dash.....just my opinion fellas:xyxthumbs
 
Black Magic semi-gloss dashboard protectant is a cheaper better smelling alternative. Anything that is fragrant eventually goes away but if you can't bear the smell during applicationn that's understandable.

That's next on my "to try" list because of its attracive citrus smell. That is, if I ever run out of my current stuff.... :rolleyes:

I have a bottle of this (along with too many other things) and i love it. My bottle however is almost empty and i dont remember where i got the original. I dont supoose you could refresh my memory..:up
 
actually I have been looking for BM semi-gloss dashboard protectant but I can't find anywhere.

Where can I pick up this product? I would like to try this.
 
Try shoe repair outlets, or auto seat cover stores. That is where I found my 303.

It does not have a "nice" smell like most other products, but I have found that it does repel dust, ad doesn't leave a wince-inducing shine like most other products. I gladly trade a perfumey smell for superior protection and a well- thought out product.
 
I had a professional detailer demo some to me last week and liked what I saw. It's hard to get at auto supply but extremely prevelant at boat stores which are everywhere here in S. FL. 32oz. for $22.95. I detailed the car last weekend and did the whole interior, engine bay, tires, and it seemed to remove the wax residue from rubber gasket trim. I LIKE IT! so far. It will be nice to have one product rather than 3. I will probably still use the chaeapest thing I can get for the wheel wells though. I understand they have come out with a cleaner but I can't find it anywhere.
