ill be doing some wetsanding for my brother who just recently painted his fenders. Im thinking of wetsanding with 2000, then 2500, then 3000. My ? is do i need a wool pad to remove the 3k scratches? Im also using the 3M line but i dont know if i start with a wool pad and the RC if thats too much. Should i go straight to the machine glaze or the Finess it?

Finesse It II Machine Polish was made to remove 1500 sanding marks. Perfefect it II FC RC was made to remove 1200 and finer. I would start with Perfect It III Machine Glaze wich is milder than the other two and see what you get. Move up to FI II MP or PI II FC RC if PI III MG doesn't work for you.

I hesitate to give advice here in the Pro forum, but I've dealt with this recently on the S8.

First, I dunno about needing to use all three grits. That would be a *very* subtle gradation. I got by just fine using only 2500 for the worst spots and I've used 3000 for other jobs that weren't so severe.

I used 3M PI-III RC with a foam pad and it was all I needed for the 2500 marks. I did a few areas with just a polishing pad, but one pass with a cutting pad would make it go a little easier.

Sanding marks in this range aren't a big deal, no need for wool pads or harsh compounds. I don't think the MG would cut it without a rotary though, and I haven't used FI for so long that I can't say about it.

thanks i ended up using a wool pad and the RC and it worked really well, Then went to RC and a polishing pad,
