3 lost Ferraris, a Gran Turismo and a Mazda 5 minivan :)

Hi all! I have to say I'm a bit upset about of the last 3 Ferrari details I've done. When I do these cars sometimes there's just not enough time for me to take proper pictures because they need to be finished as quickly as possible, as the customer is a bit antsy to get his car after waiting for almost a year. I did 3 Ferrari Californias lately that I didn't get any after pics of because they were shipped out so quickly . Oh well, I've got quite a few of them on my site for references, but it still would have been nice to have the others, as well. Here's the before damage on the 3 that got away (they were all shipped out like a Ferrari should be shipped ) >>

This is a picture of the damage assessment sheet I have to fill out when the cars arrive... this one's pretty ink-free compared to the rest...

Here's a Maserati Gran Turismo customer of mine that I did a full Nanolex treatment on. We had to do the job at his office building so there was no place to wash the car... we took it to the local grinder and I made the wash monkey use my lamb's wool mitt and super plush drying towel . The pansy complained the entire time about how heavy the mitt was compared to a sponge... Anyway, this is what the car looked like after they "washed" it. >>

THE HEATHEN-HAULER



Here's a Mazda 5 van that I've been taking care of for about 1.5 years now. I L O V E this van. For a heathen-hauler, this car is about as pimp as you can get and when you step on the gas, this thing Sh1ts-en'-Gits! The owner , now a very close friend of mine, discovered me about 4 months after he got the car so there were some dealer and "other car wash" induced scratches on the car, but very minimal in most places. I'm the only person that ever washes this car (OK he washed it once) and it's really a great feeling knowing that my techniques and efforts really do pay off. Anyway, I haven't washed this car in about 1.5 months so it was a bit dirty and needed some Jesse love. This vehicle is approaching its 2 year b-day and has about 40,000 km on it, but IMO still looks like a million ducks...

A solid sheet of water on the finish telling me that there's nothing on the paint... but paint .

Something that I discovered a while back, but forgot about until now is that putting APC into my snow foam mix for the pre-wash is about as useless as t1ts on a nun. Think about it... all an APC mix through a foam lance is doing is putting APC on the car. Sure you let it sit for a bit, but would you put a greasy pan in some soapy water for a bit then pull it out ans say it's clean? No, you wouldn't because you know that a little friction is needed to loosen up the grease and muck that's on it. Same goes for a car.



So what I did this time and I'll most definitely use this method to strip from now on, is I did my usual snow foam (soaked for about 4-5 min), then I rinsed the car and after that I sprayed APC all over the car and washed it like normal with the 2BM. Everything came off because I worked it in properly... try it .

Notice that the finish is rather dull in this picture...

After a finishing pad and Insta Finish #15, notice how much sharper the LED lamps are

Everything clean... Also, Zymöl Vintage was the LSP for today.

Were the out-of-the-way areas on it clearcoated? On my MPV they're not and the basecoat is *VERY* thin.. These areas will only take a tiny bit of polishing, just enough to smooth them up a little.

Thanks Accumulator, I enjoyed it more, too! Which out-of-the-way areas? The jambs, etc. are not cleared but the kicks are... I never measured the paint on the other parts though. Actually I didn't even bother taking paint readings as I've been caring for this car since *almost* the beginning so I know it's all factory-fresh. Also, this wasn't a "correction" polishing either so VERY little paint was removed... just cleared up the light swirls.

I was mainly thinking about under the hood areas, that's where I had an "oops!" on mine with hardly any polishing at all.



Funny, I must be getting old...I can't remember just which areas on mine are/aren't clearcoated It just got my attention that so many areas weren't compared to some of my other vehicles.



Glad you didn't have to get aggressive, I was kinda shocked by how thin the paint on my MPV is.



I just checked out a Mazda 5, but it wasn't gonna work for my application.
