2nd Detailing Attempt - 1997 Nissan Maxima SE

Hi guys, this is the second car that I have detailed ( the first being my '92 Acura Legend Coupe). My dad left it with me over spring break so that I could detail it. I started early Monday morning and finished later in the day on Tuesday. Most of the swirls have been taken care of, but some deeper ones remain. Overall, the paint looks much clearer now and also much deeper. The process is as follows:

  • Wash with Meguiar's Gold Class
  • Clay with Clay Magic bar & lube
  • Polish with XMT Intermediate Swirl remover #3 spd 5.5 on orange pad
  • Wash with Meg's GC again to get rid of dusting
  • XMT glaze
  • Meguiar's tech wax

PS I know that I forgot to clean up the wheel wells, sorry!

Lol....I was gonna say something about the wheel wells and then saw that you already did. Detail looks good. Hard to believe how hazy the paint was in the before pictures. I love that last shot with the sun hitting the paint.

That 5th picture look like cc failure, any after pic. of that area? Funny how it didn't affect the top. Nice job on that Acura.

Thanks guys for the feedback. BTW, yes, that is cc failure (it says so above the picture), and it is a Nissan Maxima, not an Acura. I did say though that my first detailing session was on an Acura Legend.

And BTW, if anyone is interested in the first detail I did, here are a few pics. I detailed this car a year ago, but these pictures were taken a week or two ago after a wash and wax.

Great work! Were you not worried about the rest of the paint being really thin on clear coat as well?

Also, what camera are you using? Great pics!

I was a little bit worried about the clear being a bit thin, but I only did one pass polishing and I didn't touch the places where it has failed/ started to fail. The camera is a Nikon D40.

Thanks!
