#26 is an outstanding LSP

I agree with tripper when he says the Meg's #26 is the only "otc" product left in his arsenal. Same with me. I just can't part with it!!

You'll find it in auto parts stores like Pep's and Auto Zone, but not in WalMart or KMart or Target.

It's a pro product all the way, requiring somewhat more skill than the average Joe with a can of Kit might want to attempt, but not so much more that an Autopian would be deterred. It's a "last gen" product; the looks are great, but the ease of use is less than the "this gen" products. If you get it on even a little too thick, it cakes and is a real SOB to fully remove. I'm going to try NHBFAN's technique next time and see what happens.

Interesting, how #26 gets rediscovered after #16 fades away. Because my main object of detailing lust is Classic Red, I never saw the allure of #16, I stuck with #26 straight through the #16 craze.

Both are great products. I think #26 has been switched to a new metal can for about a year now. A sign of just how much #26 is still available is that I still haven't seen a metal can yet; all I can find is the plastic jars.

:D This is probably of interest to no one except me, but in the 70's the "horrible" degreaser trichlorethylene (in use since the 40's, I guess) was phased out due to it's carcinogenity...replaced by 1,1,1 Trichloroethane (only a suspected carcinogen). Then in the 90's, when CFC's were discovered to be eating the ozone, the 1,1,1 was phased out due to it's ODP (Ozone Depletioin Potential)...replaced by a "new" degreasing solvent--completely safe for the ozone--trichlorethylene!

Funny how things go around.
