25 hours correcting an Acura MDX (frightening photos inside)

Hey guys, got a real big job here. This MDX had been hit with super hard water for quite a while and needed some serious correction. Someone attempted buffing out the spots on the right fender, but unfortunately was unsuccessful and required heavy correction to fix. This was a 4 stage correction on this SUV, thus the 25 hours of work.

Correction process was a lot of rotary work with M105 and GI Extreme Cut on GI grey wool pad and GI white wool pad. Finished down with Menzerna SIP on LC orange and then Menzerna 106FA on LC black with the PCXP. Sealant choice was Blackfire Wet Diamond.

Onto the pics

The "attempted" fix that was performed prior appears to have been with a rotary at HIGH speed, heavy wool pad, worked too long until it was dry buffing, and with splatter everywhere. These pics are on the scary side....

Thanks for looking!

WOW great trun around. I always thought Honda/Acura paint would correct more easily? My wife wanted a Black MDX and I swayed her to a white one-Boy and I glad!

Nice job-25hrs must have been a nice payday and well deserved I might add!

Thanks for the details in the post.

Nice job on the MDX. It looked rough.

I just bought a white Honda and I am glad as well. It's not as pretty as some of the dark colors but with the soft paint I believe I will have a better chance of keeping it looking nice for a long time.

Holy Cow, that paint looked like lizard skin or something before you corrected it!

Cant think of anything that rivals the condition they brought it to you - that thing was way past ugly and baddddddd !

And then some CWAB (clown with a buffer) got ahold of it and made it worse !
You need to find that clown-guy and have him go ahead of you ruining cars, so you can fix them right, eh ? :) :):):)

Awesome, beautiful, detailed, clean up and finish of this disaster, Jeff !!

You should be in the running for Detail-Turn-Around-of-the-Year Award !!!!!

Thanks for sharing, you are da' Masta' !!!!!! :)

These are always the most rewarding ones to do! Sure, things may get a little bit depressing to start, but when you are finally able to pull that baby into the sun at completion, it just feels great. :drool5:

I was hoping it would be nice soft honda/acura paint, but no such luck! Thank you!

Dan, thank you very much :) I like the lizard skin ref, I actually looked back at it and you're right! I hope the previous detailer is staying busy because he's gonna generate more work for me :) Actually I wouldn't wish that on anyone's car.... ^#(^

I don't know if its quite a post of year kinda thing, but thank you!

David, thank you for the kind words! Put a lot of me into this car and happy it came out right. Thank you!

When that fender was corrected I just stared at it for like 15 minutes, enjoying the sight lol. Thanks!

First off, amazing work! Did you use a pc on this?

Thank you. PC was used in the last polishing step.
