2013 G37x with a 12 hour deadline for lease inspection

The client needed his G37x to be in as good of shape as possible because the lease turn-in inspection was.....THE NEXT DAY. It had been washed semi-regularly, he had a dog...., and the leather had never been protected with anything.

With 12 hours I had to prioritize tasks to get the most utility for him out of the time I had with the car. This car had 19,100 miles on the clock.

Wheels: Meg's Hot Rims, Tarminator, boars hair brush, speedmaster junior brush, and a microfiber towel to clean behind the spokes. Repeated this step 2X
Tires: Wesley's Bleche White with a boars hair brush. Repeated this step 3X, Finished with CG Silk Shine
Rinse/Pre-soak with Tarminator and Meg's APC
Wash with Meg's Ultimate Wash and Wax
Clayed with Mother's 80g yellow clay and Megs UWW as lube
Exhaust: Speedmaster wheel brush, 0000 steel wool, p21s polishing soap followed by CG Heavy Metal
Polishing: GG6 Torq 5" backing plate, LC white pads, Megs 151. Certain areas were hit with CG V32 and Meg's Microfiber polishing pads.
Interior: Vacuum, upholstery brush, boars hair brush, CG Fabric clean, Lexol 3-in-1
Glass: Invisible Glass with Rain Repellent
Final wipe down with Meg's spray wax.

Ok so the exterior was pretty trashed, the only saving grace was the forgiving paint color. Exhaust had never been touched, wheels never cleaned properly, and bug guts had started etching the front end. Nothing was extreme, but everything needed to be addressed.

So interior was pretty rough. The leather, windows, dash, door panels, arm rest floor mats, seat backs were all covered in dog hair and saliva. No big spills, some salt and wear on the front floor mats, and a few spots here and there.

Had to get rid of this scratch because it surpassed the 2" rule from his lease agreement.

Area around door handles pretty rough on both sides.

And some "Final" shots. I hadnt dressed the tires, removed the stickers from the windshield or removed the phone cradle, but light was getting low so I had to take a few pics.

I used a boars hair brush, microfiber towels and Lexol 3-in-1.

I clayed the area very well, then used a pea sized drop of CG V32 and my fingertip. Initially I rub the polish perpendicular to the direction of the nail marks, then alternate back and forth. You can feel the polish start to break down, at that point I ease up on pressure. Not rocket science, but you want those areas to be as glossy or even glossier than the rest of the car.

I polished all of the paint since 151 provides a bit of protection/water beading anyway. Didn't spend a ton of time on the polishing. LC tangerine hydrotech and the 151 would have brought the paint to 90%, whereas I got it to 80% and removed the rids.

Meguiars D151 Reconditioning Cream has always been a good predictable AIO for production work - I used it on a bunch of white work vans once with a Rotary, and the dang things looked so good the people were able sell all 3 of them the very first day they put them out on the lot..

Those surface scratches you took out around the door handles turned out great..
I like to use a little Meguiars 105 with some moisture on a soft white cotton towel and 1 finger to get behind the handle and get all those zillion finger nail scratches out.. It always get those door cups looking better than new..

Incredible work in a short amount of time - inside and out !

Yeah, I have seen hundreds of those scratches, they get there as you said from rings, and from long fingernails..
The M105 or even M101 or M Ultimate Compound on a cotton towel and your 1 or 2 fingers behind the handle will knock those defects right out amazingly!
I like to use M105 because it really works fast and finishes down beautifully, and I have a lot of it..

Huge + for the M105 with moist cotton towel approach. It is my "go to" and never disappoints! Amazing at how quickly it gets rid of those nail scratches. What is also amazing is how most people won't even realize that they are there and how they got there until you point them out during a quote/inspection :wow:.

You can always add to your already great product collection, a bottle of Meguiars Ultimate Compound that is sold over the counter at most auto supply shops, Pep Boys, Auto Zone, heck perhaps even Walmart will have it... Jut google it and see if you can find it easily..
Meguiars M105 is really a terrific product for so many things, but it IS a Compound that is capable of taking down your clearcoat quickly if you are not paying attention, or are doing about everything wrong..
If you get this and use it by hand, just be careful of Sharp Edges, and use good common sense...
In all the years I have used this by hand around door cups, handles, etc., I have never hurt any paintwork..

Yeah I agree. I dont think he really knew what to expect, but was playing it safe. He sent me a photo of the inspection results and the only chargeable items on the list were 1) curb damage to wheels and 2) cracked paint on the lower side of the front bumper cover. So he avoided paying for the 6 or 7 questionable scratches that were there beforehand. If he keeps it: Iron-x, menzerna Fg400 and sf3500, EXO and C1 on the paint and wheels.
