The owner of this car contacted me through my website. He purchased the car earlier this year and ran it through an automatic car wash most of the summer, which just hammered the exterior of the car. After inspecting the car, he decided he would like to have CQuartz Finest installed on the car after it was corrected. The car has roughly 17k miles on it. Onto the good stuff, the pictures.
Picture of the car just after being dropped off
The deck lid, like most of the car was covered in swirl marks
Image showing the condition of the rear bumper which had numerous scratches on the rear bumper cover
This vehicle saw regular use of an automatic car wash over the summer resulting in this
The car was covered in swirls and fine scratches
The Washing Process
First step in my process was to remove the wheels to begin the cleaning process
Omni-clean was used to clean the wheels
Megs Super Degreaser was to clean the barrels of the wheels
The wheel wells were cleaned with various brushes and Megs APC
I proceeded to do a foam pre-soak using Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Clear w/ Megs Super Degreaser
After this the car was washing using the 2BM, followed by a decon using IronX. I then proceed to was the car again using a Nanoskin fine wash mit. The car was then dried using a few waffle weave towels.
After being fully washed and dried these pictures show the true condition of the paint
The paint was seriously flawed due to use of the automatic car wash
Lots of swirls and scratches
Wheel Coating
The wheels were coated using CQuartz DLUX
The brembo calipers were also coated with DLUX
Paint Correction Process
This was the first test spot I performed using an orange cutting pad w/ FG400 on my rupes 15
Another shot of the same test spot
I did another test spot using the same combo, however this time I was not happy with the results as the surface still had a fair amount of RIDS
I moved on to using Amerirocks on a Megs MF cutting pad on my rupes 15. This produced more of the results I was looking for. It removed a majority of the RIDS
Another 50/50 shot of the same test spot
50/50 shot of the passenger side rocker using Amerirocks on my Rupes Mini
Image of the driver side fender after being compounded with Amerirocks and polished with Reflect
CQuartz Finest Application
The car was then rewashed, and wiped down with Eraser to prep for the the application of CQuartz Finest. This is a picture showing Finest flashing on the paint during application
Quick picture after finishing up the application of Finest
This picture shows the amazing reflective qualities of CQuartz Finest. The gloss on the paint is a mile deep.
