2012 Sonata, 2-step correction and 22ple VX1 Pro Glass Coating

Rasky's Auto Detailing
This car belongs to a good friend of mine and I actually talked her into going with 22ple. Since I see her often I figured it was a car I'd be able to monitor closely and observe how it holds up over time. She's had this car for about 6 months now and I've been meaning to get it in for a new car prep ever since. Unfortunately my schedule has pushed it out until just recently. With my wife out of town on business for a week I opted to do this one during the week after I was done at my full time job...she normally doesn't like me working during the week. ;)

I actually did more of a "hybrid polish" on this one as the car had gone through the snap n' scratch (soft cloth) wash at the dealer prior to her buying it. LMAO I love how car wash owners say their soft mops don't scratch the paint....maybe not, but when they slap against your dirty wheels and tires, then go over your paint, they CAN and WILL scratch the paint! This was very evident by the amount of marring on the lower panels. As you progressed upwards to the horizontal panels they swirls were less and less sever. Because of this I was able to 1-step most the upper panels with just Sonax Perfect Finish. While that process still yielded excellent results on the lower panels too, some deeper marring remained which I wanted to remove. For those areas I went with D300/MF for the initial correction and followed it with Sonax Perfect Finish.

Thanks for looking,

Thanks guys! :)

The owner was very happy with how it turned out. She's had this car for 6+ months now and the first time she took it out after the detail she went to Target with her daughter. As they pulled into a parking spot her daughter was like, "mom that guy is totally checking you out!" Well, as they got out of the car he actually approached her, commented on how nice the car looked, then asked if it was brand new! Needless to say that made her day as nobody had randomly commented on her car like that before! Actually it kind of made my day too when I heard about it. ;)

Chad,

The new Hyundai's are such great looking cars. Their looks, quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction are off the chart's. My daughter bought a 2011 Elantra Limited in the same black and I just bought my wife a 2013 Elantra Limited in Shimmering White....

Gorgeous work Chad!! :bigups

That paint looks amazing! I'm interested in this product, so I too am interested in a follow up.

Thanks again guys!

Car looks great Chad. How did you find the 22ple to work with? Did you use the 2 towel method?

Yes. Well actually I think I used 3 towels total. One for the initial wipe and the other to follow and make sure it's perfect. The product does act a little oily as you wipe it up so the first towel will get saturated with solvents and be less effective at the wipe off as you go around the car...eventually needing to be swapped out. :bigups

FYI - I used new short nap all purpose towels for the wipe off and tossed them after use.

Chad- when you applied 22ple did you use the CarPro applicator or differently?

Yes. I think Todd uses foam applicators but I prefer the CarPro micro suede towels and the foam block. ;)
