Oh ya they kept repeating my instructions, "so you want us to ...." "yes that is correct prep mechanically do not wash, touch...." They think I am beyond nuts.

Good Job!

Buffer trails and wax residue would have been the least of your worries ... the "detailer" who prepped my '08 Evo laid the rotary on the roof and then plugged it in!

Oh my! That is just a deal breaker right there!

To the OP,

Grats on the new whip, and you are definitely off to a great start.

That is gorgeous!

Now drive it back to dealer and show the staff why you did what you did. I am sure that half the people at the dealer wouldn't take notice of it because that is just how it is.

I threatened to sue the Mazda dealership if they washed my car(s). They kept insisting it was free and it won't hurt the paint?! "We wash thousands of cars..." Uhgg. Whatever. Free oil changes for life was nice though!

My salesman seemed excited when I told him I'd like the car's paint untouched except to simply check for defects before giving me the car. Told him I was a hobby detailer and he said, "Of course!"

I live in an area populated by rich guys that do not know come here from sic 'em. I doubt anyone has ever thought of, much less requested doing the work themselves.
