Are the Viking 100% Cotton Chenille mitts going to be DISCONTINUED? I ask because I thought I had read a few weeks ago an Autopian saying he spoke to a Viking rep and they said that the 100% cotton mitts were being replaced with the "Supersoft Chenille" mitts.

I might have just been dazed that day, but if this is true, could someone please confirm this? If it's true, I'm going to stock up on these mitts, is 5 mitts enough? I do wash 3 cars per weekend.

A good rule of thumb in the car care world is to stock up on quality car care products. Because before you know it, the quality ones are being discontinued. Though I'm kidding, there's a bit of truth behind it.

As for the chenille mitts, I haven't heard of anything suggesting that it might.

I remember reading the same about them changing to the poly blended ones. Scoop them up why they are out on shelves!!!

I think I am the one you are referring to.

I posted earlier about the Viking wash PAD only and asking if it is 100% cotton.

Below is the reply from Viking I received:

This is the message:

GTI, I saw your Autopia post asking about Viking pads. I am the brand
manager for Viking products and wanted to answer your question. I
usually search Autopia to monitor consumer feedback or get product ideas,
but don't post often because I don't want to seem as if I'm using it as
a selling tool. The pad you posted is 100% cotton. Because of price
pressure, all our pads have been changed to a synthetic beginning in
Dec, and the package has changed taking off the 100% cotton statement.
You will probably see stock of the cotton version at retail for another
month or so until their inventory runs out. If you've got any questions
about our products, you can e-mail our customer service dept -
viking@schtre.com

I have not asked about the availability of the 100% Cotton Wash mitts. I hope they continue making those nice mitts.
At lease in the bay area Kragen they are readily available for $3.99.

there was another thread about wash mitts too.

So I see a Viking LURKER huh. LOL

If you read this Viking make the 100% cotton ones and not the synthetic ones please.

Can someone post of pic of these fabled 100% cotton chenille mitts? I bought 2 from shuck's and could swear it said 100% cotton chenille on the package of each one. However, they don't feel as soft as ppl proclaim they do... Now i'm starting to wonder if my mitts really are 100% cotton chenille.

Down to my last few from the GP. First come first serve.......

Good news. I called Viking yesterday to find out what was going on with their Viking mitts. Apparently they are still making the 100% cotton chenille mitts. Only a few retailers are buying it. So it's rare. She mentioned Walmart. Autozone is buying the cheaper ones that's why they don't stock them anymore.

I suggest contacting them to see who else carries them.

If you can't find them Detailking has a few left.

The autozone by my way sell the same exact mitts that detailking had. I bought 6 myself and plan on getting more. Not all autozones are created equal.

I've noticed that Walmart (at least here) does not carry the Viking brand mitts anymore. They do, however, carry a new Turtle Wax Chenille cotton mitt that looks/feels identical to the Viking. There is no mention of "100%" on the label, as I recall though. :nixweiss

Here was my project for the weekend, a 2011 Range Rover Sport, essentially a "New Car Prep". This gorgeous Land Rover was dripping in Santorini Black. There was some minimal swirling, but not at all as bad as I expected.

LSP was Blackfire Wet Diamond.

Enjoy!
