This is a friends car that the dealership trashed with a combination hand wash and wax application during the vehicle prep. The dealership has also screwed up two clear-bra installs as well on this car.
When all the scratches, swirls and holograming was brought to the dealerships attention on the second clear bra install, they said that, "it is impossible not have all that on a black car". Yeah....
This detail ended up taking me 36 hours to from start to finish.
Process:
Foamed with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash (it was cloudy and cool out so I could really let it dwell and it almost completely stripped the dealership wax).
Washed using 2 bucket method and grit guards using Duragloss 901.
Wheels got Sonax Full Effect.
Clayed with Pinnacle Poly Clay.
I tried 8 pad and polish combo's before deciding what to use (paint was soft and very picky. All machine work done with G110v2. Pads cleaned with brush and compressed air.
Compounded with 5.5" & 4" LC Hydro Tech Cyan pads and Megs D300.
Polished with 5.5" & 4" LC Hydro Tech Tangerine pads and Megs D300.
Finished with 5.5" flat LC Black finishing pad and 4" LC Hydro Tech Crimson pad and Menz 85RD.
IPA wipedown.
Polished glass with DP Glass Restorer and LC flat 5.5" white pad.
Cleaned glass with Invisible Glass and DP Krystal Vision glass cleaners.
Treated engine with Aerospace 303.
Underside of engine hood cleaned with Optimum Power Clean at 3:1.
Treated underside of engine hood with Klasse AIO.
Cleaned interior with DP Total Interior Cleaner.
Protected interior with DP Total Interior Protectant.
Entire car (paint, trim, glass, door jambs) got Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0.
Tires treated with Optimum Tire Shine.
Onto the photos. All photos taken by me.
Wheels.
Every crevice had wax from dealership in it, including some big puddles of it in the door jambs.
Sonax doing its thing.
Foam soaking.
Claying.
I hate taping...
Here is what the dealership said was impossible to prevent.
Trunk lid before and after compounding.
Fender before and after compounding.
Door hologram before and after compounding.
50/50 of door using D300 and Cyan pad.
I need a lift and comfy chair like some of the people I've seen on here, sitting on concrete gets old fast.
Compressed air is great to have on hand.
Trunk lid after 85RD
There was no sun and wasn't going to be for rest of the week so here some LED shots.
Engine all cleaned.
