2011 Aston Martin DBS Carbon Black Edition Correction by Richie's Custom Detailing

IMG_7304.jpg

I was contacted by Aston Martin N.A. to restore the finish on this unique 1 0f 1 2011 Carbon Black Edition DBS w/ manual transmission. This car was built specifically for the CEO of Aston Martin Dr. Ulrich Bez to drive while in Monterey and he commissioned the car to be built with a manual transmission. The car was not originally slated to be sold to the public, but Dr. Bez was able to procure a One-77 so this DBS was placed into the dealer port stock.

For those wondering why I was contacted by Aston Martin N.A. regarding this car, here's the story.

The customer purchased this DBS from his local dealer in South Florida and asked the dealer to bring in a professional detailer to prep his new car. The dealer called in the guy they normally use for their special cars. In a nutshell their so called professional detailer destroyed the finish of this fine automobile.

Unsatisfied with the appearance of his new $300K car the owner contacts the dealer and explains how unhappy he is. The Southeast Warranty Rep contacts me and asks if I would be willing to travel to South Florida to restore the finish on this DBS. He has seen the work I've done for my local dealer and was confident in my abilities to restore this beauty to its former glory.

Pricing was discussed, hotel arrangements were made and I was off to South Florida.

Upon arrival at the owner's home I could see why he was unhappy. I could see the holograms and swirls while it was in the garage without any lighting. I don't know what the other detailer used on this finish but I hope they do not let him near another fine auto such as this.

After a thorough wash and decon the true condition of the finish was revealed.

Onto the pics.

After the wash.

Clearfilm and paint correction by "The Bing"..West Palm Beach is "Monied up" people there have Rolls Royce's there like most areas have Camry's.

great work!

In detailing forums I never could understand how someone with such a pricy car can have the paint in that kind of condition. Its like they added sand to the bottom of a wash bucket and cleaned it with that.

Awesome work Richie!!!

I'll be the first to ask....name of the other detailer? P P P Please!!!! :tape::tape:

Incredible. That thing was BEAT from the start. If you don't mind me asking, how long did this NEW car, that most uninformed people would consider nearly PERFECT, take to correct?

Great work Richie. It's obvious AM should have called you from the start!

:har::spit:

I'm still astonished that there are people calling themselves "detailers" that only know about wool pads and heavy cut compound. I sincerely hope that the dealership fired the other "detailer."

As the "Bing" is neck deep doing a car(Just pestered him with a call...)I have "Power of attorney" so to speak on his behalf due to the fact I took a few days off that I needed(lol), the car took about 23 hours to fix and the customer was home during the whole correction and would bring the "Bing" snacks and water(Sign of a outstanding client who understands you treat the "Little people" right and things go smooooooth) and was able to see the progress from start to finish and told Richie "I will be calling you again soon" especially after he brought the car out in the driveway when it was completed along with the GM of the dealership who was grateful to have a "Not so happy wealthy client" smiling ear to ear.

So a "Happy ending" to a potentially bad situation for the dealer as they were the victim of "Hackness" along with the client who owned the car.

Oh Mike...................you subtle devil you...............what by chance would you be intimating here.......another recent 3,500 view thread perhaps ..hmmmm.

First of all, fantastic job as always!

By now, I am thinking, Aston's start correcting themselves when you even approach them :).

Regarding this 1 of 1 edition, any inside scoop on what sort of unique extras it has on?

Finally, on the initial status of the car, not one person from the dealership was able to check that guy's work and see that something was going horribly wrong?

Another thing that puzzles me is how do you end up with so much dense swirling, after any polishing step weak or strong. If a hacking strong combo was used only then there shouldnt be so 'tight' swirling and if a light combo was used, it would at least have made a little improvement.

Who me?

In all seriousness, though, Richie did an outstanding job. There's plenty of pressure on you when you're working on 1 of 1! He handled it like a champ, though.

Rotary + wool pad+ oil heavy filling polish + hack = the above results you see before Richie fixed it. ;)

I mean... it's OK. I don't see what was wrong with it before hand. Looked 1000% brand new perfection to me. I guess it's a little better after. :tongue2:

As usual, Richy "Linebacker" Carbone comes though and saves another Aston. Outstanding work and pictures showing the whole process.

aston martin obviously call the right person in. for show room new that was terrible. the after is how it should have been when he bought it.
