2010 Porsche 997 Turbo Cab Correction

Hi People,

Pretty new to this forum, but I love it. I truely am a automobile freak and I love spending hours trying to make my car( "01 BMW 330i) look perfect. Quick but "dumb" question. Growing up, I was taught to apply and buff in circular motions. This site has taught me to apply polish in a front to back motion then buff. My question is, when buffinh, is that a front to back motion or a circular motion. On the my new car, I have been only isung the front to back for both applying polish and wax, and buffing in a front to back motion. Any advise would be appreciated.

I generally apply and remove polishes or protectants (waxes) with an overlapping back and forth motion, not circular. I always go in the same direction as air would flow over the car while in motion.

It's not just back and forth if you want to do it the best way. On mostly horizontal surfaces, go from front to back.



On mostly vertical surfaces, go up and down.

I did this car just under a year ago(should have seen it sooner, hint,hint Mel). The vehicle is kept nice, however a little remedial wipedown procedure was discussed again(lol).


Car as it came in, with polished HRE'S so with the build up of brake dust I could not aggressively clean the wheels, so I utilized non-acid Autoglym CC wheel cleaner.

A few RIDS on this area.

Pulled the car onto the water containment mat to get started.

Cleaning the wheels.

One area of concern to my customer was a bird dropping etch on the clearfilm(film is much more difficult to correct than paint).

After some time I was able to repair this area.

Rightside of the rear bumper had this nice defect(scuffness).

After initial compounding.

After fine polishing, all that was left was some paint twist which I suspect was caused by a basketball hitting the car(dimple marks from the ball were left behind).

Not all of the job was a "Day at the beach" readings from the drivers door.........Much care was taken in the correction of this panel.

Fine polishing was finished "Late" as in late evening.

After one coat of BFWD, I put on another to let sit overnight.

Engine was just dusty, but I will always take pics of "Tightned up" Turbo engine bay.

Another defect I saw, was scuffing on the polished lips of the wheels. In conjuction of the polishing I also used the steamer where applicable.

Here is the one of the deep scuffs.

On the home stretch....

Even though I did not dis-mount the wheels, the five spoke configuration allowed to polish the rotors and get the discoloration off.

The steering wheel upgrade is the "Poo", Sharkwerks does it .........again.

Great Job as always. I especially like to scuff removal on the wheel. Was that achievable becasue the wheel is clearcoated or because you actually polished the metal. In either case it is amazing, I was just curious.

Nice to see you outside washing the car. I think the ONR froze on my car last week inside the garage! Gotta love Cali! After your done washing do you have to wet vac the water on the mat?

Thanks for sharing some of the products you used. You results are incredible and I know its not the products but I always like to know what people use to get the results. This way I know it?s me, not the products &%$#ing up my cars:banghead:.

Also curious as to what you do with the water that collects on the collection mat. In California, nothing surprises me.
