Thanks again everyone for the compliments. My uncle called and told me he hasn't drove the car for more than a week because he loves the shine so much, he's scared the shine might go away (he's a heavy Kit's Carnuba user). I told him that I used Klasse which has 6 months protection and the shine will not go away unlike that Kit's Carnuba he used to use. I guess he really loves looking at it in his garage. :)

BW,
I know it's either a 94 or 95. Thanks.

Olivher:

Nice pix. I can understand the reluctance to drive the red beauty.

That being said, I'd make the following suggestions for the next car:

-- Clay after washing (before the A-I-O). Even after a wash, the car still has dirt on it. You won't believe it until you see the clay remove it. Various clays have been recommended elsewhere. (The concensus was "Clay Magic" although I've used Meguiar's on 3 cars without a problem).

-- There's an optional step (after claying) -- Use SMR, etc. if you need to combat swirls.

-- The A-I-O should be a single coat. Multiple coats don't really add to the quality since subsequent coats remove prior coats. (After all, it is a cleaner.)

-- Don't use QD spray when applying the SG. The applicator should be a dry pad. That may make the removal easier.

-- Top it with a carnauba (after the SG). It'll look even better.

E

PS: Tell your uncle to drive it. The pain he gets from smiling too much will go away long before the shine fades. :D

For best results, most people here like to layer on at least 3 coats of Klasse SG. Then follow with a carnauba. Laters

<strong class='bbc'>YoSteve recommended that I breathe on SG residue that is difficult to buff. I tried it when I first used Klasse and it worked great! It actually worked even better than QD, it just seemed to come off of the surface easier because of the warmth and moisture combination.

Careful though, I almost passed out when doing this on my entire hood  [/b]</blockquote>Hey puter, Steve probably forgot to mention this, but you are supposed to <em class='bbc'>breathe in[/i] from time to time as well :D

Oliver - great job! You have inspired me to renew the six month old Klasse on my red car. BTW, my buddy has an '98 Integra that very same color. Not quite as shiny though...

Just completed today(1-18-2011) this vehicle was not in delivery condition and the customer was not very happy at all. Very detail orientated and worried about how the job would turn out as he is from New York(NY) I set up an estimate appointment with him and looked over the car to find typical marring and general "50%" approach to the delivery condition.

Beautiful Basalt Black(dirty black as James @ Sharkwerks calls this color) I would spend all in total close to 15 hours on the car. After a thorough wash/de-con to strip away any remaing lsp I started with the correction & detail.

Here is adhesive residue left over on badge from shipping tape.

Tarminator made quick work of this problem.

Right rear quarter, wash mitt dropped on the ground probably caused this marring.

Marring and scratches on paint can be challenging enough, but on clear film the difficulty factor can go way up.

Wheel & tires looking like the car had never been driven(151 miles on the car @ the time of this correction).

ShinPorsche997C4S1-18-2011031.jpg

Owner had a 3mil spacer on the front and 5mil installed on the rear to cure some of the "Sucked in look" that O.E. whhel come with, slightly more aggressive offset cured this.

Engine bay was not too bad(as well it should not being a new car) but I hit everything anyway with lot's of attention polishing the painted areas.

I would like to thank Brooksmotorcars for allowing me to service a San Francisco based client with no garage(Life in the city for the carguy....sigh) Brooks is the BEST body shop I deal with and have used them since 1989(Again thank you Dan who is the owner and Tony the SF shop manager, they also have the main shop in Oakland near the airport.

Awesome job once again Bob. You really know how to get a car looking the way it is supposed to.
No doubters here. I know the quality work you put out!!!!!!

Do you even have Doubters? I would be super-pi$$ed if my new car was delivered like that, much less a Porsche. Awesome work, and congrats to the owner for getting one with 3 pedals!

What I did not include in my write up last night were these pics, after the Porsche job I was able to pick up my wife (who works in SF) and get some dinner and being a clear night I thought I would take some pics from "Twin peaks" to show some of you how beautiful the city can be(Take this for granted some times) who have never been to San Francisco.
