2010 Chevrolet Malibu

This is a quick write up on a 2010 Chevy Malibu. The client only wanted a wash and wax since she did not feel comfortable with the dealer prep, plus her telling me that the water did not bead very well. I looked at the vehicle, and upon initial inspection, it did not seem too bad with very few swirls and some extremely light scratches (from parking on a narrow street). Anyway, we set up a day for a wash, clay, sealant and wax. I didn't take too many pictures of the before, only because it was supposed to be a simple wash/seal/wax.

Here are a couple pics of the vehicle upon arrival:

I then washed using the two bucket method w/ grit guard, a high concentration of Megs Hyperwash and LC Utili Mit wash mits. I first rinsed the exterior of the vehicle down with warm water, and then applied the Hyperwash using a foamgun. After letting it soak for a minute or two, I went to town washing the body.

After washing the body, I went to town on the wheels. I started with Detail King's Brake up and an EZ-detail brush (in which the handle happened to snap off after doing the second wheel), but I was able to finish using the brush and using a boars hair brush. I then used Detail King's tire/whitewall cleaner with darkening agent on the tires with a stiff bristle brush.

A final rinse of everything, and dried, here is what I found lurking underneath the dealers glaze.

So, I called my client and explained to her the situation. She didn't want to spend too much money, so we agreed on a quick 2 step polish followed by a sealant and wax. I went to town with the PC and orange LC pad with Menz SIP; followed by Menz 85rd on blue LC pad. I then topped that with BFWD on LC red and then CG Butterwet wax on CG red. Here was the result.

Anyway, since I was pressed for time, I finished up with this combo, applied BFWD to all jambs, and finished up with Megs Hyperdressing for the tires and wheel wells. Here are some comparison pics and final pics:

Looks CLean!

was that straight out the dealer?

This was pretty much right from the dealer with only 167 miles on the odometer and no washes by the owner. I think this is a really nice color, too.

i've never ever considered a 2 step polish "quick" so i'm wondering how much time was spent myself. But her car looks flawless and Navy Blue Metallic is a dead sexy color!!

You are correct, a two step is anything but quick, but using that term "loosely", because the car corrected very easily, which IME, is never the case for GM clears. Anyway, wash, clay, seal and wax took me around 7.5 hours. Due to the fact of the condition it was in and the amount of money she wanted to pay, we decided the exterior was more important and skipped the interior detail, however, I did do a quick wipe down, vacuum, and interior windows for her, which only took about 15 minutes. The interior wasnt too bad, as it was a new car, but the biggest problem is that she is a smoker, so vacuuming up the cigarette ashes and cleaning the smoke from the interior windows, this little interior "spruce up" made a world of difference. Total hours was lingering right on around 8 hrs. I agree that the metallic blue looks awesome when properly corrected, although my first choice of favorite color is GM's Red Jewel Tintcoat. I saw this on a Buick Lacrosse the other day, and man...was that color classy and awesome!

Nice job, you made a big difference in that lady's car and I'm sure she'll be back on a maintenace schedule. Thanks for sharing your products and methods, I use those too and they've yet to let me down.
