2010 Camaro Transformer

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
Next door neighbor got himself a new toy, he came over on Sunday so that I could put a coat of EX-P on it.

Question? The hood has two big stripes on it that are tape, they are some what of a matted finish

I didn't put the EX-P on them, anyone have an idea what to do with these?

Looks great...it even has the transformers logo...

I am guessing the stripes are vinyl? I would think a sealant would be fine.

My Ranger has a 4x4 decal on the rear fender and I put sealant on it.
My car has a small pin stripe on the side and I put sealant over it.
I'm not saying it is right but I have always done it without a problem.

I have not used EX-P but TD said it gets gummy and hard to apply by hand and he uses a PC.

I would do the tape by hand rather than risk using a machine on it.

I polish over mine with a PC but Ford put clear over mine so it is no different than the rest of the body but I think GM just lays the tape on and leaves it like that.

I have not looked to see if the new Camaro is cleared but I'm guessing
it is Not.

When in doubt, 303 Aerospace Protectant is always safe for vinyl stripes and decals too
My Focus has a tiny stripe down the side it would be a tedious job trying to not get it on the paint.

I'm lazy I just put sealant over everything tail lights and all. :D

From my experience of detaing at my Chevrolet dealership these are just vinly stickers; I have removed many (they just pull right off) and have put many on Camaro's. However, back to your question, I use a sealant by hand and call it a day :).

Make sure no matter what you use test the product your going to use in a inconspicuous area first. Better save than sorry with someones new Camaro.
