For the last four or five years I have not really cared about the car I drove. As I have said in a couple other posts, I have finally purchased a car that I want to keep up and looking nice.

About ten years ago when I was just a young punk, I use to own a truck that I spent countless hours detailing. The two pieces of equipment that I loved the most were my natural chamois and the horse hair brush. I use to use these endlessly on my truck. I have seen/read some posts on natural chamois and would agree with everything I have read. It seems technology has changed everything we do in this modern time. However, I have not seen anything about the horse hair brush. As I remember, it was great. It was maybe 10 X 4, had a wood handle and of course the brush part was made of horse hair about five inches long. Not only was it very soft, but due to the density and strength of the horse hair within the brush it was very durable at the same time which worked well getting the heavier dirt off the truck. I never noticed scratches from it and it held the soapy water well. That old brush had many ofthe same charteristics as a MF towel.

Has anyone seen or used one of these? I would love to find one again to do the lower parts of the car and light work on the rims.

I use OXO brushes for my wheels and plastic panels on my truck.

I think maybe Herringtons or such might have one. Wait around I am sure some will post.

ADDED:

I see Autoint has some.

Boars hair brushs cause scratches and swirls. Many here have tried them and they all have expierenced scratching and swirling.:down :down

What would a good replacement be? I picked up a little circular brush at WalMart, but it just not look at that great. What exactly is a chanille mitt? I tried www.griot.com and I don't think that is the web site for Griot that you were referring to.

Rmerikle, paints have changed since the days you were just a young punk. The EPA has new regulations since then and modern paints are much softer and easier to cause scratches. I don't recommend a horse hairs brush.

Brushes=NO NO NO NO NO!

My neighbor bought a brand new red Ford F-150. I see him washing it all the time with a brush. The wheels, bumpers, hood and not in the correct order.

Can you say marring????????

It's hard enough to keep paint looking good, so why make it harder.

i know i saw a pic somewhere here of db using 1 on the lower 1/2 of his Porsche....but...how much dirt are we talkin about....use a mitt dood...maybe if i had a huge truk.....but even then.............:down

Products used I suspect were "Whizbang maJic polish" done with the "quickness....":D in the direct sunlight and humidity that Florida gets this time of year. Bing, how did you pull this off I mean did you not only have 1.5 hours to finish this car?? just amazing if you ask me(even though you did not).
