2009 Honda Accord - Yes, a one-step!

Hello Autopians,

Today I detailed a 2009 Honda Accord.

I started by doing the wheels, exhaust tip, and engine bay using ONR. I followed with an ONR wash on the body of the vehicle, which was heavily contaminated. The exhaust was polished using P21S Polish Soap.

I clayed the car using Meguiars Mild and Aggressive Clay (when necessary). I did follow up with D300 on parts of the vehicle.

The vehicle was lightly polished and protected using Meguiars D301 on an Uber Green/Blue Pad. This was chosen to meet the time and budget constraint of my client. I could have simply waxed the vehicle, but D301 has impressed me with its ability to restore gloss and still provide some protection.

I was very happy with the end result and surprised with the level of gloss achieved by this one-step.

Thanks for viewing my work.

Looks good Jeff! I have some 301 sitting around somewhere, but I've never gotten around to using it. Maybe I should!

I haven't had a newer Honda in my shop. Are these really single stage?

Every single white Accord, Civic and Pilot I have done has been single stage, including the new ones.

This Accord is actually not single stage anymore. The car was completely repainted under warranty, using base coat and clear coat. The paint did have some runs here and there, but overall I would take it any day over the factory single stage.

Interesting they would do it that way but then again, I am guessing the repaint wasn't done on the assembly line.

Still can't figure out why Honda and Toyota continue to stick with single stage solid white on their cars.

Scott,

I'm with you. It's a lot of work to maintain single stage paint, especially in Florida. I think even if they respray a few vehicles, they save enough money that they just don't care.

The repaint was done by their contracted body shop. The respray was okay, but there were plenty of signs of it. There was minor overspray on some portions of the vehicle, including the fender liner and window seals. They didn't remove the windows, which showed.
