Owner called me out about a year and a half ago to look over his black 2009 Cadillac STS. He had recently purchased it sight unseen and was horrified to see it covered in buffer swirls, no doubt put in by whoever detailed it for the company he bought it from. Looked it over, gave him a price. Then I didn't hear from him again until recently. The company he bought it from wouldn't pay what I wanted, they insisted he use someone they chose or they wouldn't pay for it. Anyway, he thought they did an okay enough job that he never called me back. But now he wants to sell the car, recently picked up a CTS that gets better gas mileage and since they already have a DTS land yacht, the STS is the odd man out.
When I washed the car, it was obvious that while the rotary swirls were greatly reduced, in several areas they weren't fully removed. But since he wasn't paying for a correction, I had to figure out a way to remove the buffer swirls and reduce the spider swirling as much as possible to stay in his budget. Found that a mix of Meguiars D300 and #105 worked very well, with minimal hazing that Optimum G-P-S was able to easily remove. Car obviously isn't perfect with just two steps but the rotary swirls are all gone and the spider swirls (which he didn't even seem to notice) were greatly reduced and I was able to keep the price reasonable. Plus, he now wants to have us come out and detail the CTS and DTS so maybe he'll be willing to do a bit more for them.
ONR wash, Opti-Raser mild to clay
Meguiars D300 mixed 50/50 with Meguiars #105 using a 5" Meguiars MF cutting disc and my Meguiars G110 v2 Da Polisher
Optimum G-P-S using an Optimum MF polishing pad and my G110
ONR wash and wax diluted 32:1 to clean glass
Meguiars #105 to clean the exhaust tips
Armor All to dress the tires/fenderwells
