Here we have a late 2008 model that has 31 miles on the clock. The owner of the car requested that ALL paint correction work to be done by Eric (Howareb) and myself before the dealership applied their 10 year warranty of Cilajet. :chuckle: They are selling the warranty, not the product as you all know. I did however manage to sneak a peek of the 10 year sealant that you will see later on.
Upon arrival, this car really stood out. With it's rare color and aggressive body style, yet classy I knew it would be exciting to work on such a beautiful car.
Overall the car needed a thorough 2 step correction, with a few RIDS that took a little more focus. That was the plan, fully prep the surface and that's it. The dealer does the rest.
The process was:
Wash via Dawn 2BM to remove any oils or protection that could have been applied before hand
Clay using Meg's mild clay. Car was pretty contaminated.
Wheels were filthy and required a 10-1 mix of degreaser and the EZ Detail brush to make sure behind the wheels were perfect as well.
The first step was using Menzerna SIP with orange/white LC pads @ 1500 RPM's, then finishing off at 1000 RPM's. Some areas received 2-3 passes to ensure the RIDS were taking care of.
The next step we used Optimum Polish II/Optimum Finish with Green LC pads @ Speed 6 on Meguiars G110 and PC. This step really amped up the gloss and left the paint looking flawless.
all metal/chrome trim was treated with Optimum Metal Polish. Exhaust tips received the same.
Enjoy!
Arrival
It was hard to capture the defects with my P&S but you will clearly see a difference.
All areas were taped and look at the difference in gloss levels
Sorry for making you wait so long, but here is the 10 year sealant itself.
It was up to the dealer to complete the inside but I took a quick picture anyways
The car was then pulled outside around 630PM which is a great time for picture taking. Too bad I got my Nikon a few hours after :wall
