Just a short C&B,



2008 Porsche Cayman detailed only exterior...

For a 2008, the car has a lot of swirl marks and light to moderate scratches....

the worst thing is that both left and right side of the passenger door's has spots from OVER-USE of tire dressing...YES!! not WATER spots but OIL spots....:wall..

Owner thought it was "bling-bling" so he applied the tire dressing too much..

anyway,he didn't notice the spots until a few days when he parked under the sun...



Anyway here are the process:



Wash with ONR using 2 bucket method

#83 with 8006 Pad ,Speed 5 via g110

#80 with 8006 Pad ,Speed 5 via g110

NXT with 9006 Pad on Speed 3 via g110

NXT w/ Foam Applicator on tight edges



Total time: 8 Hours

The "Oil" Spots on both passenger and driver's door were horrendous, it sticks to the paint that even using a quik detailer will not remove them...i wanted to clay the car, but the car was fairly new and I did not feel any rough/above surface contaminants...

After 1 pass of #83 and follow with #80...it took out the swirls and spots..pretty happy with the result:

Even the near the door handle has "Oil" spots!!! How fast is he going!!?? :think: ..:

Nice, 83 and 80 by PC is a nice combo. I often found defects returning a month or so later, but the look you get for the time invested is nice. Great job!

really? i did not know that at all..can you explain to me why? thanks. I notice on the my lexus too but i suspect it was my washing method if it cause the marring...now i maybe know why...so what other products do you recommend using? thinking about optimum and menzerna...but menzerna is a bit too expensive for me...
 
Not to divert, but I work on a friend's black Cayman S, and have just Optimum Polish in the house, though I have 4" pads. Any advice that anyone wants to toss in here would be most welcome. I had been thinking about a Flex, but am open to polishes that would do the job via PC.



It does look great, though. Very nice end result.



Pardon my stipidity, but what is a g110? It must be a pad.



Are you advising your roomie on tire dressing? Hope so.

Here's a couple of shots to show how Menzerna 106FA works on black Porsche paint. I just made a quick pass on the lower right bumper area of my '06 using a white Lake Country pad and a PC for this product "test". Phil at Detailer's Domain has some 106FA in stock I believe, if you're interested.

thanks...yeah i tried the 106FF, and SIP before...really like how easy it removes the defects..but menzerna are just too pricey for now...lol...
 
Great work on this one...i dont care too much for M80 i just think it does more filling than anything...something that meg's has been "accused" of before..more filler than removal...but we all still love them right??:bow

there was a big debate about this in some posts about 80 having oils to fill in the stuff. I'd just do a IPA wipedown just incase if I used the m80. It's supposed to have oil to help lubricate so it sometimes get caught. Alternative you can always go with OP and OHC, but if 83 and 80 works for you, it should be just fine.

Yeah I have read about it...true whatever works should be fine I guess. Definitely want to try Optimum's line...however, I am pretty sure that my technique is wrong with the ONR..but after I polished the driver's door, washing with ONR causes marring...I used 2 bucket method, I am not sure why my technique is wrong...I use 4 caps-full of the Gallon ONR filled 2 gallon of water, with a rinse bucket w/Grit Guard...and use a new out of the package Lowes's GS....
 
hm.. that's really strange. I think there might be something trapped inside your mit. You also have to remember that black porsche paint is prone to marrying VERY easily. If you take a MF towel with dried residue, it will marr the car. I really believe that grout sponges don't have enough play for the dirt to be trapped. I'm a sheepskin person / microfiber chenelle mitt person and I've never had trouble with marring. I'd give that a try.
 
well most people or at least detaildoc's "followers"...use the GS and works fine for them...I do not know why it didn't for me...weird....but I'll give ONR and Lowes GS another try...
