Thanks jswift!

that is some really great work GM!! How long on average does it take for you to polish and LSP a vehicle of this size?

Thanks Carbon Blue! I think I spent 8 hours on this one yesterday, which was a long time for what needed to be done, but I wanted to make sure everything was right.

Niiiiceee! Hey bryan, when you took out the holograms, did you use a 3m blue pad with Ultrafina combo with a rotary or flex?

Thanks Kent! Flex 3403 rotary. I do not have a flex 603.

Other than the 993, this is my favorite body style. Simply delicious!

After seeing several of your posts they always leave me impressed! Great attention to small details.

Thanks Daven! Would be hard to pick between the two!

WOW what a super detail . You have to love those curves on that 997 body. Remind me of a Jamaican girlfriend jajajajaja .:D :D :D :D

Cheers , Jean Paul

Thanks Jean Paul! Yes, they both have hips that don't quit! :)

Beautiful work Bryan. That firt pic is awesome. It's a shame that the grass is not green. You guys must be having some serious drought issues down there.

Thanks Pat! That is bermuda grass which goes dormant in winter. The warmer it gets, the greener it gets.

Might seem like a off the wall question but what type of tape are you using

That is flashbreaker tape that is used in composite repairs. I had a rare find last year when I got 10 rolls shipped off of ebay for $100. Its usually $15-17 a roll and I can only find it in a case lot.

3x of 80% Z5pro/20% Z2pro and 4 drops of ZFX to the paint, clearbra and glass. Total mixed 3/4 of an oz.

How did this work out? What was your idea behind mixing Z-2 and Z-5?

I now add 2 sprays of Z-8 to the Z-5pro / ZFX mix, seems to help with the application.

Tony of Zaino fame shared this with a few of us. He said a detailer in Tx told him about it. He also said about adding the Z8 in the mix. I tried that once, but must of used too much Z8 as I had a little bit of product overload. I need to try it again.

One nice job!! I've seen it over at RENNLIST!

Now THIS is what a Porsche is supposed to look like with Zaino!! Like a rolling mirror!

Soft paint isn't it? Same problem, you just breath on it and you get marring!:D

Glad you could assist a fellow Rennlist member and show what one looks like fully done with all the correction and LSP. Too many take the short cut and just glaze these due to the soft paint, then slap wax on it.

Still on the fence on Ultrafina, but it does do a nice job when worked correctly. Same problem first-time users did with Menzerna, just not "learn" a damn fine polish which Ultrafina is. Too many finish it too dry, which is the wrong way to use Ultrafina. Finish wet and it's wild how well it works.

Interesting formula for Zaino. I just add a very little Z8 to the Z2-Pro/ZFX mix. Now with ZAIO and ZCS, it just goes quicker now. You just have to admire a well prepped Zaino black Porsche!

I do hope that the owner can forward you some more Porsche owners to work on so more can see what these cars can truely look like when someone with talent and skill gets their hands on it.

Once again, one hell of a job!!:2thumbs: :bow

heh those black porsches can make any detail look specular :). I still enjoy doing them too. You didn't wool the whole car did you?

Thanks scout!

I did wool all the painted areas, sans the clear bra as it got no polishing. All of the painted areas had the same defects. The blue wool has less cut then a foam orange pad.

Conan777 said:
Great Job! Did you take paint meter readings after the job to determine how much clear was removed? Thanks!

I did in a few areas and never got a change on the PTG. So any clear that was removed was less then 0.1mil as expected.

Outstanding as always, Bryan. The paint looks flawless. :)

Bet it was nice only having to do a couple of polishing steps after those BMWs and the Lexus, eh?

That is so nice that it's making me sick with envy. I really LOVE the multi-spoked wheels...Oh sooo hawte. :shocked

Stop buying products:lol Hahaha

I have plenty buddy. I'll give you a bottle. I wish we had some Saturday:sadpace:

More great comments over at RENNLIST regarding your work. Great job there big guy!:D

Let's hope you get more owners over to you to correct the mess that some of these dealers do to the cars. :soscared:

The wheels (Sport Design) can be a PITA to clean on some of these, but you did a great gob on the wheels and look at the P-Zeros! Look like they were just mounted!

You'll find that the front bumper/radiator area gets all kinds of nasty things stuck in there. With a GT3 type bumper and the opening is like a scoop for every leaf in town! I'm always cleaning my ducts out all the time!

Wait till you have to detail the underside! It's one long plastic cover from front to rear. When I have my car on the lift, it takes me a good long time to clean the entire covers, getting all the trapped dirt out and dressing it. A pressure sprayer works best for that.

Did he at least take you out in it? You have to try one of these... just insane the way these things drive and handle.

Once again, great job and let's hope more will be comming your way!!

Great job!

BTW, Kudos to whoever did the clear bra; not noticeable at all. You did a good job cleaning the lines to make sure it remained that way! What's your secret?

Another "Top Quality" piece by Bryan!:bow

Interesting Zaino mix... I'll have to try it.:woot2:

Thanks Ryan! Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Great results!

How do you like working with the 3403?

How does it compare t other rotaries?

How did it manage with the 8" pads?

Thanks Duke!

I am really starting to like the 3403. Its very light and it handles the 8" wool fine. The wool has less "grab" then the foam. I was using my metabo with the 8" 3M blue foam and it did go into thermal shutdown, again. First time in about 4 months, but it is a concern. I used the 3403 on one panel with the 8" 3M blue and did not have any issues. Plus the trigger is a big plus on the 3403 vs the non-trigger metabo, especially when using M105 a trigger is needed IMO.

Thanks Deanski for sharing all of your porsche detailing experience. I think the owner sees a lift in his future, so I am sure an underside cleaning will follow.

Bryan, I have a feeling you will be doing a ton of Porsches soon!

Thanks Ryan! I am working on getting another one in black (imagine that) lined up soon. We shall see.

With both front fenders and the entire hood covered in clear bra, there are less lines to see. I always apply zaino "wisper thin" as Lee calls it. IMO its the way any LSP should be applied.

Craig, The pleasure was all mine. Glad I was able to help you out. Thank you very much for lunch! :bow

No sweat, thanks for all the lessons. Hey the favor is being returned. Several guys on rennlist have asked about you. Just don't forget about me when you open some huge shop and get all famous giving $5000 details on Veyrons.

Heh heh, at least this time *I* wasn't the guy asking about the "after" readings :D

CBnAT- Welcome to Autopia! Nice Porsche, and you sure found the right guy to detail it!

gmblack3a- [Insert usual :bow regarding gmblack3a's work here]

Now *that* marring looked like "no ETG change" stuff to me :D

GMBlack3A:

Maybe it's time you struk a deal with the dealership on "real" detail prep work. In other words, they can just prep (hack) the car, OR, for a fee to the new owner, a full correction and protection prior to taking delivery.

I was lucky as the dealer I got my C2S from has a very talented shop and staff. When they were ready to prep the car, I dropped off a bottle of Menzerna P085RD to the shop, gave them a quick lesson on the polish and the rest is history as the car was perfect. They obviously wanted more of the polish, but being a 3M shop, I informed them that the new UltraFina will do just fine and to ask their 3M rep for training and materials for it on new cars. 3M's a bit reluctant to use Ultrafina on standard clearcoat, but with persistance they got to use it.

What paint film?!:grinno: Damn invisible in the pics, so it's a very good install and product. Newer films just keep getting better and better! But it's the install that makes or breaks a good film. Now with 3M's purchase of Venture, more larger sections can now be filmed.

Deanski

Deanski, I hear that one of the local porsche dealers has quit doing courtesy washes due to the drought in GA. The client that told me about this wondered if this would hurt my business as there might not be as many swirled up porsches running around Atlanta. :)
