Guys, check out the latest Meguiar's video clip on "Automotive Appearance Care Clinic". It is approximately 29 minutes and I guess it is good for newbie like me. :xyxthumbs

not bad,

but my personal opinion is that after watching it , it left me that infomercial feeling, understandeble 'couse the man is trying to sell.

second, one of the first things the "old-timers"(LOL) on this forum try to teach is not to go in circular motions on your paint, and what do I see in the entire video?

Wright: circular motions:mad:

Oh yeah, I noticed that they apply polish/pre-wax cleaner in circular motion. How can that be? I thought polishing in straight forward and backward motion will decrease the swirl mark effect...

it does seem to be very well done, I might have to get out my digivideo cam :D

is it my or did they just show vomit on the seats and how their order cleaner can help! haha :)

I like it as it takes the confusion from the basic steps newbies ask us. Good information... if not a bit infomercial-ish.

one thing I did notice however...... they make washing a car a helluva lot easier than it really is..... or so I thought..... it appears about a 5 minute process in their video-lapse....

:scared

Dicerning client that sought me out to optimize his Audi A8's appearance, he purchased the vehicle from a private owner and well the vehicle had been taken thru an automated wash so the finish was dry and marred, in addition the wheels had been cleaned with acidic cleaners and it showed.

Car as it arrived to my facility.

2-26-11041.jpg

2-26-11042.jpg

RIDS on the hood.

2-26-11044.jpg

Most of the readings were good, however on a few spots caution was taken.

50/50's of the trunklid.

2-26-11049.jpg

Reverse angle pics.

2-26-11052.jpg

Entire trunklid corrected.

2-26-11054.jpg

More hard water etching.

2-26-11055.jpg

Corrected.

2-26-11058.jpg

Deep RIDS that required sanding.

2-26-11060.jpg

Plenty of clear to effect the repair.

2-26-11061.jpg

2-26-11062.jpg

Scratch corrected.

2-26-11063.jpg

Fuel cover door had been re-sprayed, and with that some shrink. The color match was good but the door needed sanding to match the adjacent quarter panel(Note the halogen reflection on the left is not clear, halogen on the right is O.E finish).

2-26-11067.jpg

During wetsand step.

2-26-11069.jpg

After compounding the door has matching texture.

2-26-11072.jpg

2-26-11073.jpg

Evidence of "Tunnel wash marring".

2-26-11075.jpg

After first hit with M105/D301.

2-26-11076.jpg

Marring on trunklid.

2-26-11077.jpg

Correction steps.

2-26-11078.jpg

2-26-11079.jpg

Marring on right rear quarter.

2-26-11080.jpg

Looking much better.

2-26-11082.jpg

Sanded fuel door fine polished.

2-26-11084.jpg

I would later tell my customer I feel someone "Keyed" the right rear door, usually this has a bad ending(Repaint required) but there were healthy readings and I corrected the deep scratch.

AckermanAudiA8L2-28-11001.jpg

After sanding, I pulled out the DeWalt and the "Wooley mammoth edge black pad and went to work.

AckermanAudiA8L2-28-11003.jpg

After using the black pad I switched to the aqua polishing wool, then medium polished the panel........disaster avoided.

AckermanAudiA8L2-28-11004.jpg

Evidence of "Tunnel wash" wash brush material lodged in the headlight!!.

Beautiful job, Bob ! I have seen that color on what was it, Acura ? Ridgeline?

One has to wonder why a "discerning" Client would want to buy such a trashed looking vehicle in the first place - if the outside was allowed to look that bad, wonder if it was ever serviced in a timely manner either......

In any event, your expert work turned a real mess into the beautiful art that only Audi can do so well !

Thanks so much for all the time you have taken this year alone, to post up some beautiful work !

Outstanding job once again Bob.
Your work never fails to amaze me. It's one incredible job after another. Every time you post one of your corrections, I say to myself, it doesn't get any better, and then you post the next one, and I say it again!
Thanks for posting your hard work here for us all to learn from.:notworthy:
